Think it depends on the employer and then some give you the option if you want.

I hope SE brings back those "thinking" dialog boxes again.

think those added to my disdain of FF8...

In retrospect, it's a pretty good game, but suffered from trying new things that frankly were a bit more alienating and non-user friendly than they should have been.
Junction, Draw magic, GF spam, Gil salary, no armor, etc. were all bold moves, but didn't quite "stick" as well as say the Materia system or even the Gambit system for that matter. But I can't fault Square for doing something different or at least attempting to innovate.

Draw system was one of the worst things they've done with the FF series, next to FF2s 'skillup' system. I actually kinda liked the salary based system and junctioning in itself

I hated the limited resources thing, I'm a person who tends to hoard onto things when they're like that. As a matter of fact I probably only used magic like a couple of times in the whole FF8. I almost cried when I had to use aura against uh..some weapon, don't recall if Ultima or Omega, the tough one.

The draw systems only issue was that it turned into a grind. The idea of ripping magic from enemies to use against them was pretty cool. Just not spending like 5-10 minutes doing so depending on RNG.

Aye, junction was neat in allocating magic to stats, but came with the drawback of having magic work as numeric consumables. Also I wasn't a fan of salary based income due to the fact that it came so intermittently and decreased in funds if you did not focus solely on the mission/story. Why should I be punished for exploring and doing as I wish? On the bright side, there wasn't really much to spend gil on in the first place. I almost never had to buy anything.

I hated that stupid draw system. You want to cast magic? Well destroy a bunch of crap for some uses of it.
I liked giving people certain summons and what not but that Draw system pissed me off.
Materia, and Abilities on gear I wouldn't mind making a come back though. Gotta farm that AP!

IMO the best system was in IX. Learning passive traits, spells and abilities through various equipment, and learning it permanently once you've worn it long enough. Plus the magic stone thing for passive abilities made for a much more acute style of gameplay and creating advantages for yourself in various situations.

I enjoyed the draw/functioning system and it was a nice change of pace.
I do find it odd that it's one of the few games where solely leveling up hurts you.

Huh, I have to check in on that. My salary always went down it seemed, even though I would grind, a lot.
Also it bummed me out that GFs had that level attribute bonus thing, but to make the most of it, it would essentially force you to rush through to get it before gaining too many levels.

Tactics Advance is even better, cause not only you learn abilities like that but it has classes and customization. Man, love that game.

Afternoon, everyone. How are we all today? I once had a dream that I woke up from a terrifying dream only to find that that was a dream then I woke up from that to find that that too was a dream, about the fifth time I woke up there was a naked sad clown masturbating at the foot of my bed which was also a dream I awoke from, this goes on about ten times then I actually woke up.
Sometimes I space out and I wonder what was so terrifying in the original dream.

Honestly I only pay attention to level at the point to stay in the certain range to get as many final weapons as I can on disc one.
Quote: Gaining SeeD ExperienceEdit
For every one enemy defeated the player gains a point of SeeD Experience. Enemies killed by Guardian Forces don't count. Every time the player's salary is paid they lose 10 SeeD Experience. When passing a written test the SeeD Experience is rounded to the next level. Several in-game events can increase or decrease the player's SeeD Exp. If the player handles all events perfectly, they can increase their rank with a total of 4.7.
Showing off Squall's gunblade to the two students sitting on the floor outside the second floor classroom lowers the player's rank by one; even if the player isn't a SeeD yet, it will later be deducted.
Trying to sneak out of Balamb Garden during the night of the SeeD graduation lowers the rank by one; if the player tries to leave three times, the rank will drop.
During the Timber train mission, if Squall is never detected by the guards he gains a SeeD rank. If he is detected fewer than ten times it has no effect on his rank, but if the guards spot him more than ten times his rank will drop.
The rank drops by one if the player escapes the Tomb of the Unknown King with the option available from the map.
The events in Missile Base can gain the player two ranks. See details here.
After defeating NORG there will be a male student outside the second floor classroom asking Squall to show him magic. If the player complies the player's rank decreases by one.
Completing the Master Fisherman quest in Fishermans Horizon will earn 20 SeeD Exp, 0.2 of a SeeD rank.
During Galbadian occupation of Balamb Town, depending on which method the player uses to find the captain, they will earn SeeD Experience: if they board the train they get 65 Exp, if they use the dog to sniff him out they get 100 Exp.
Completing the Shumi Village stone collecting quest will earn 50 SeeD Exp.
Defeating Ultima Weapon gives a whole SeeD Rank.
also it goes down a bit everytime you get paid, I don't see the #'s specifically, but that would be why it goes down.
basically kill 10 enemies before you get paid again and it stays the same.

Damn I want to play FFIX again ... I'd love to, if there were a new game+ and they removed the JPonry Jump Rope minigame.
@Art: The other thing is if you physically level up, it increases the enemies level, and if you don't have stuff junctioned well, well you get your *** handed to you.
You can effectively beat the game at a low level and is easier to do so.
That being said: I like to get to 100 anyway, especially since I item grind certain things to refine and junction or have items. I think having Siren and Doomtrain at 100 enables you to refine the really rare ***, like a Dark Matter.
Or one could just play the chocobo world minigame, on the psx if they have a pocket station, which I do :D

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
