Stupid tech question!
I've only had AMD based systems, and now I'm going to an Intel system. Planned on formating my SSD and doing a clean windows install, but am I gonna lose my storage drive when creating a partition on it? When people say QT I think Quick Trip... Not a fan of gas station food.
Why would you be creating another partition on your storage drive?

As long as you're using the same file system, you won't have an issue on a non-os drive as far as keeping data is concerned (in this case, most likely ntfs, which you will be, cpu is irrelevant, in this case).
I'd unplug all but your OS drive when reinstalling though, the windows installer is kind of HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE, and if it sees partitioned space on another disk, it likes to use it for stuff at times, instead of just your boot disk. That and it prevents accidental "mistakes" of selecting the wrong drive. The first part was a bit over the top in explanation, basically no, as long as it's not the OS drive the data will stay, just shut down the computer and unplug that drive then install the OS on the other drive (ssd in this case).

So I've installed games on steam a lot. Today is the first time I actually paid attention to it. Now it takes forever for these games to do the first time set up for me. I have finally found out why. It keeps DLing the damn Microsoft.NET framework and VC 2010 distributable to my E:\ Drive then has to extract them from there.
Problem is my E:\ drive is FUBAR. How do I make Steam DL these files somewhere else? I have lost my chatting buddy... I am now bored again... I also regret not bringing something to drink.

Maxwell chips are remarkably power efficient, Broadwell will be too. Battery life won't be that bad. Wouldn't be surprised to see high powered laptops with smartphone level battery lives in the not too distant future.
also lol, $20 for a "premium" fanfest stream ticket. you're basically paying $20 for a moogle suit. I meant for the dual 970M's, and phones don't last for ***when playing games either.
