Define "cheap". My old laptop could run FFXIV at medium settings for around 700.

By that I mean, " I wonder how much the cheapest laptop in the world is that can run 14 well on high settings."

Because if it can run 14 well it can definitely run dark souls 2 well; two birds with one stone ftw
Actually the same laptop that could run FF14 on Medium, COULDN'T run Dark Souls 1, so it might not be that easy.

FF14 is actually really well optimized. Runs well with rather low specs.

Nothing in particular as to getting on it, but anywhere that's within biking distance, use the bike. Only drive where you must. A fun way to get around/keep in shape.

I'd go for Asus, better quality.

There's a hierarchy :

Custom laptops
---------------
Brand Laptops
---------------
Alienware
-----------

This laptop ^
-------
Acer

going to assume that you have alienware at the bottom of that list?

and na, there's still a difference between Asus and Acer and HP and Dell, there's negative things that can be said about the consumer grade of each but so far Asus have been rather reliable.

Yes, you're pretty much paying for the name when you buy alienware, iirc they use cheap parts, and you can buy everything and put it together yourself for much much cheaper price on top of having more guarantees and control of your system.

I love Asus, I have used their mother boards for 10 years now and have never had an issue with them. I just finished picking up a monitor by them just a week ago, currently no problems~

Other companies that I find to be reliable are Samsung and EVGA. Never had problems with HP though the prices of some are eh at times.

I have a HP laptop; Envy 17-1101NR, $1500 piece of crap.

the business grade aren't so bad, but for the price of those I'd just get a Sager.

Correction: You're paying EXTRA for the name. Alienware is still top tier in the gaming market, just the price is overblown.

That said, if you want to play any games at all, I have to strongly recommend against any kind of laptop.
