Wait... I sense a plot to destroy the Subligarians...

How's the RAF treating you? That's the branch you went into, right?

Not yet :3 got given a jerb nearby so put that off for a year to make sure I'm sure about my decision!

Well, that's good news too! I would be apprehensive if I were in your shoes too. Something about the prospect of being shipped off to Afghanistan doesn't with a lot, I'm sure.

It's mainly because of my recurring depression, I need to sort out or at least find a way of controlling it before I can commit to something of such importance. I do like the thought of being a military officer though, I fit well into leadership roles once I break out my shell.

I had to get the exams proctored since I moved. If I would have been up north still they would have been free.

My own fault I had to spend that much....but I guess it was worth it. (the moving of course, not the grades I got >.>)

Oh also, Lightning's attitude would be justified if her backstory was that of a world-renowned hero from the start, but she was basically just some chick in the Military Police, not even of very high rank if memory serves. I could understand the bitchiness of habitually commanding respect and coming off as a ***, but that wasn't the case.

Secondly, I hated that the game was so linear and that normal random encounters can take 20-30 minutes with maxed out characters of any given chapter.

I think SE is running outta ideas, TBH.
It's nothing to do with a lack of ideas; it's damage control for FFXIV; they're pushing out cheap games that pander to their Japanese audience in an attempt to grab some easy cash.
It's not just FFXIV, FFXIII seemed like a flop, too. The only difference is everyone went out and bought FFXIII only to be disappointed, SE made money, FFXIV, people got, played beta, and was disappointed and to top it off, it was bad enough that they couldn't charge for it. I think the disappointment of FFXIII is one reason we don't have FFXIII VS nor Type-0. Though at the same time, sequels are being thrown at us like phone calls from a crazy ex-GF who "just wants one...no TWO more chances" but the simple truth is while she may look hot with her strawberry pink hair, her badass shooting and swordsman skills, she's still a mean-spirited, hateful, unlikable *** with the personality of literally irritable bowel syndrome.

Edited in bitching that I had missed.
XIII was successful, regardless of the incredibly vocal group that dislikes it. It's also more popular in Japan than over here, hence why the sequels actually get anywhere.
XIV was an outright flop worldwide and has continued to drain money from SE long past it's initial cost. The End of an Era CG alone cost them millions, and that was nothing more than a 6 minute attempt to hype a dead game.

She was not high ranked but that is because she had only joined up a few years before, dropping out of school to support herself and Serah when their parents died. Despite this however her weapon is telling as blazefire sabers were given to only their most elite and promising soldiers. At the time she was a Sergent and had just been put in for officer training.

As for the second point if random encounters were taking 20-30 min you were doing something very wrong... Even in a no weapons upgrade playthrough you can down most in 1-2min.

Oh man! That's sad to hear. I was hoping that you would be drawn out of your depression funks by assuming a little more responsibility and having something to feel more accomplished. I was hoping you were okay.

I'm kind of the same. I feel better taking the helm with projects, as long as I don't take on so much that it becomes too overwhelming, whether it be work related, family, friends, life, a combination, or all of it. That's where I tend to go into cyclical funks. I tend to get caught in the minutia and then focus my energy on things that may be more detrimental to me, then go into critical meltdown mode when I realize it was a loss the entire time.

That may have been exaggerated for random, but I remember fighting bosses for over an hour several times before finally admitting I wasted $60. Also, Lightning was still a ***.

FFXIII may have had some success, maybe in bringing in people who'd never played an FF game before. It's not hard for a non-sub retail game to make money with the right planning, advertising, and let's face it, the Final Fantasy name. I'm sure there are those who like FFXIII, as much ***as FFVIII caught, I still liked it. I can sympathise and understand, but FFXIII was boring, linear, and everything the Final Fantasy brand was not, to me atleast. It had good things, like Vanille and the Blazefire Saber, but it didn't have enough to hold my attention, it was just boring to me.

SE need money, so they started targetting casuals and changed the games accordingly. More casuals, more money. Final Fantasy has become popular now amongst a larger demographic of gamers, it's no longer that game the cultists talked about in the corner of the classroom, it's become one of the popular kids and has began to dress accordingly.

I wouldn't be a soldier and seeing as my colourblindness prevents me ever being a pilot I would either enter the into a branch of medicine or IT/comms.

XIII is less casual friendly than previous FF games due to the fact that you're actually timed during battles and the completion time affects drop rates.
Outside of that, the game is of the same difficulty level as previous main series FFs.

Games are all graphics nowadays, it seems. Also, I'm not sure how FFXIII was supposed to cater to casuals, it takes for-***-ever to kill bosses. Remeber Yiazmat? The FFXII super boss with record breaking HP at like 5 million? That's how every boss in FFXIII felt to me, a long, boring, drug-out fight against a monster that isn't really better than you, it just outlasts you.

I hate a game that makes you feel like you need a gameshark just to enjoy the game, that's usually just instant self gratification, but in the case of FFXIII the battles, which only ease up after about 20-25 hours, are WAY too long and there's no enjoyment to fighting normal monsters to level up before the next big boss.

Sadly, Important for the public is Not who kills, but who gets killed.
There are many genocids in many countries, a lot of them are still not Even recognized.
When we killed an african tribe brutally German Public and government were against it and punished the military commander. When we were After jews population in east Europe was happy and started killing them before the army even arrived there.

I think it's funny that even France and Britain had pockets of anti-Semitics among their population post WWI, and nobody talks about that.

That's ridiculous Leon, it has absolutely no effect on the game whatsoever and only holds value for completionists looking to max weapons.

Please, don't say it's the same level of difficulty when the battles are long but easy, you see them coming and you are given a map at all times. Perhaps you should take a trip back to the tower of Babil for instance and try to navigate that without a map and being bombarded with random battles and mobs capable of defeating the entire party in a few blows.

Can we really say they're only about graphics now? I'd love to see a good comparison of average playtimes between all the Final Fantasy games and see how big the gaps are between them. Just because there is a larger focus on graphics now does not mean we're completely focused on them, and just like with how well FFXIII actually did in places like Japan I feel like some people are just more vocal about their distastes which is helping to make things seem much more prominent than they are.

There's also the fact that gaming in general is getting on in years now and it does eventually become hard to come up with original concepts over and over and over again, especially now that it is such a fast paced industry that demands constant flow of product to maintain profits.
