I actually enjoy a good White Russian, and I almost never drink. The Dude was definitely on to something.

Today was a totally everyday sort of day... ... And as the day was almost over, my parents dropped by with a surprise gift.  So now it's just a matter of learning to tune it... Then learning to play it. My ultimate goal is to learn to play this song, as it's one of my favorite acoustic songs ever.

First off, Happy Birthday, sir! Secondly, I'd suggest you start small. Learn to tune it by ear first (fifth fret on every string except the second to last), then learn your basic chords. You can't play Dragonforce off the bat, so get your basics down, first. Chords and scales, sir. Then you'll see the songs come together. But congrats on the guitar, sir!

Don't mess with the tuning, IMO, I broke many strings when I first started playing Edit - Also, if you don't get blisters/cuts on your fingers, you're doing it wrong

I never even knew about it until my girlfriend (who tends to date musicians) said something to me about "having fingers like a guitarist"... I was so confused.
