No effort involved. Wouldn't have to learn anything to emulate Emerald or FireRed/LeafGreen; just switch on and play.
FR/LG are remakes of the glitchy mess that was Red/Blue/Yellow btw.

hmmm is there a specific emulator I should be using? I'm getting a message saying "The 1M sub-circuit board is not installed" when I try FireRed
VisualBoy Advance is the best GBA emulator. That's normal; it means it can't detect the hardware (because it's not there). It still plays fine. Try saving and closing/reopening the emulator as soon as you start the game, though; you might have to change the save type in the options for it to save properly. I know I had to do it for one game, but I can't remember which one. :x
Or you could just use save states instead, but then you'd have to be super careful not to overwrite them instead of loading them...
I figured it out... I assumed enter was the A key but it is Z apparently.

No, that's why I've been talking about making a RT one. With myself, you and Skull, we only need 2 more people before we qualify for making one. We'd get our own starbase and everything. And we could upgrade it, and it'll have it's own shipyards, and at max level (which would take forever to get with so few of us) it allows us to buy some of the best ships in the game.

Thankyou, I think... I think I've gotten decent at making women over the years... Still can't make men very well though.
