Today is the day I realized that I have no priorities. xD
My aunt's cousin has a dog, a 1-year old, 83 pound yellow lab. This dog was raised on a 20 acre farm, but now he lives in Las Vegas and it's not going so well. He is not adjusting to city life. So! My aunt, from looking at my Facebook, assumed I was involved in animal rescue. Apparently I make lots of dog posts and follow lots of shelters. /blush! So she asked me for help-- could I find a way to get this dog from Las Vegas, Nevada, to Albuquerque, NM, where my aunt will adopt him because she has a much bigger yard than her cousin and can provide the dog with miles of walking trails and a better home in general?
So I badgered my FB friends. "Pretty please if anyone is going to Las Vegas, pick up a dog for me? It's as big as your entire back seat, but I'll make you cupcakes!" And I badgered all the shelters I have friended. "Pretty please does anyone know of any Las Vegas shelters affiliated with any NM shelters?"
And then I badgered my husband. "It's only a 10 hour drive from here to Las Vegas, and then only 9 more from Las Vegas to Albuquerque. We could go get the dog and take it to my aunt!" And you should have seen the look he gave me.
Anyways, so I am all about getting this dog to his home, even if I have to drive down there myself, which I can't, but I would anyways. But my parents, who also live in NM, have been hinting that they want me to come visit for years. YEARS. And I was always all "Sorry nope too far, gas too expensive, too few vacation days." So I won't go to see my own folks, who love me whether or not they ought to and raised me from a munchkin, but I'd jump on it for a dog I don't even know. :x
Some people have no priorities. I'm one of them.
