I really want to play FFXI, but I know playing until the winning numbers are announced to get rid of my marbles will be very tedious and frustrating.
I get off-and-on tempted to play... But after not getting on and buying marbles, I told myself I'd at least wait until after the winning numbers come out. If any of my numbers I would have chosen are winners, I refuse to go back because I'll have a major sad!
today I had something devastating happen to me which caused my blood pressure to severely spike and probably also caused the nearly life threatening cardiac arrhythmia I just got finished being treated for. Now they have me on watch.
They'd be happy to have a foreverhome whether you have to leave them for work or not. Just don't chain them in the yard like a lawn ornament, let them sleep on your sofa while you're gone and come home on your lunch break to scratch their ears and let them out.
I'd recommend the older one, he's more likely to be more relaxed. Plus older dogs have a hard time finding homes. Everyone wants to adopt a puppy, but older dogs deserve love too!
My old dog was inside/outside. I have a privacy fenced yard, so she'd generally spend the day outside while I was gone, then come be lazy in the house with me when I was home from work.
My main thing I'd be worried about, leaving them inside while I work, is accidents. Because they're so hard to clean up and get that smell out. But there's only one downstairs room with carpet, so I guess it'd be okay.
The thing about the older dog having a harder time finding a home is a good point, too. It's a gorgeous dog, but being past the "puppy" stage probably does make it less likely to bed adopted. Now you're making me want it even more!
That's good too, as long as they have a place to sit out of the sun, maybe a dish of water outside, and a blanket for if they get cold. I just can't bear it when I see dogs just locked in one place all day, out of reach of shade or water or anything. ;;
Anyways, the last shelter dog we brought home, we were allowed to bring home for a week to test out with no commitment. Maybe your shelter allows the same thing. You could bring him home, give him some love, see how it works out. If, in a week's time, you think it would work, you keep the dog. If not, you sob all the way back to the shelter and give the dog back. It sounds so mean for the dog, to offer them a home and then take it away, but it's not much different than the dog fostering system some shelters have. They let a family keep a dog for awhile to empty the shelter out, and when someone wants to adopt the dog permanently, the foster family gives it back.
You could try, with no obligation. You wouldn't have to spend forever wondering if that dog would have been the one for you, and you wouldn't have to feel guilty if it didn't work.
If I took a dog home I don't think I'd give it back >.> I'd feel like a *** (unless it was one of those bratty tiny dogs that won't shut the *** up and stop barking)

Oh yeah, it'd be well taken care of if it were outside.
I have a dog house with a shingle'd roof and a dog bed inside, and straw for extra insulation. I'd probably have to build a bigger one for this particular doggy, but I'd be okay with that. And the back of the house always has shade because of the direction it faces, plus a covered porch.
I'm not sure if they offer a trial system like that at our shelter, but it'd be worth looking into. But I'm 99% sure that bringing it home would make me want it forever. Which is fine, as long as I can care for it properly.

^ This. But I'd never take home a tiny dog. I have a cat for the "tiny animal" part of my life, and I can't stand how loud most small dogs are.

I did feel like a ***. It was so awful. We brought home a husky mix, about three years old, before we got Dante. We introduced him to our beagle, and he was super shy for awhile. But then a few days in, he got over being shy (which was good) and started playing very rough with the beagle (to the point where we had to step in and separate them) and it got so bad that I was afraid to take a shower for fear that my beagle would get hurt while I was in the bathroom.
We took him back, it was about a 45 minute drive to the shelter and I sobbed the whole way there. But when we got there, the dog was really actually very happy. We had separated him from his mother and brother who he'd been brought in with (all three of them had been neglected and starved) and he was so happy to see them again he literally jumped for joy.
About a week after we took him back, a single guy who needed some running partners came in and adopted the three of them together. It was a much better life for the dog. It was the right thing to do. Didn't stop me from sobbing, but he's much happier with his mom and brother, and much happier to be with a man who takes him running every day. <3
Sometimes I worry about big dogs and my cat (because he would never fight back if he was threatened), but then I remember my old dog.
When she still lived with my parents, she had never been around cats and she always chased after them. But my parents eventually started taking care of one of my sister's cats for a while. After a good bit of hissing and a few smacks on the nose, she adjusted and got to liking cats, as long as they were in-house cats. (She still chased the neighborhood cats outside.)
Once I got my house, she moved in with me, and I had three cats for a while (two of my sister's, and my own). She was perfectly fine with them, especially my cat, whom she apparently thought was actually a small dog.
She never once tried to hurt any of those cats, and I wish I still had one picture in particular, where she and my cat were nose-to-nose with each other. Cutest animal picture I've ever had of my own.
I have a golden retriever and while she can play a bit rough she's always nice with the cat (he's in charge lol)
Mine was a lab mixed with something. She always reminded me of a bear. I'm sure the breed has a lot to do with the temperament. I could never get my dog to bite me, no matter how much I tried (outside of her puppy "gnawing on everything" phase). She never snapped at the cats, either.
The one time she did corner an outside cat, she stood there and just stared at it, almost in a sort of disbelief that she'd actually caught one sort of way, until it ran off and jumped the fence.
Gonna suck when my cat is gone, he's almost 18 now :/
My cat will be six this year. Hard to believe it's been that long... Harder to believe that he was supposed to be put to sleep when he came to live with me.
My ex worked at a vet and he was one of three brought in to be put down due to being sick. He had a respiratory infection... He could hardly breathe and his whiskers were matted to his face. She started taking care of him at their office and convinced me to let her bring him home. My sister's cat didn't like him much at first, but he grew on her.
Now he's the healthiest, most loving cat I've ever seen. He greets me at the door every day when I get home from work.
I must say, the Tomb Raider reboot looks fantastic.
I like how it seems significantly story driven compared to the previous franchise titles, not to mention the attention to the detail throughout.
Volk I wonder how much jail time yourichi would get in 2013 for repeatedly undressing in front of a teenage boy and sexually taunting him like she does in the show lol

Mag, that Shakespeare's Tragedies thing was hilarious.
Yeah, it's awesome. I did learn a couple things, though. Like I don't remember Rosencrantz and Guildenstern being beheaded, but it makes sense. Also, Titus Andronicus seems to have the reputation for being the bloodiest most *** up Shakespeare play, and that just proves it. It also makes me wish I had read more of those; I've really only read half.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
