Yay! Looked into getting the loan for my vehicle. Loan amount is around 23 grand, which includes tax tags and title costs. Navy Federal offered me a awesome 5 year loan for like $365 a month with an interest rate of 1.79% apr. Think ima go with them :P
:| I'm going to stab you. I'm sick of hearing those damn navy federal radio commercials.
But but but....I been using them for over 7 years now!

They really are a good bank though. Back when the government was defaulting and it looked like we military members were not going to get our paycheck, Navy Federal made sure they gave us some money anyways, knowing eventually the government would get around to paying us. They knew we needed our paycheck and guaranteed us our money even if the government did not. And no they would not have considered it a loan.

They also pay me a day in advance thanks to my active duty checking status!

What the hell is this League of Legends stuff? I hear about it on these forums all the time yet I have no clue about it.

And before you sigh and just spout off "Google it" think about the fact I am using a very, VERY, shitty government computer right now that can barely handle THIS sight let alone deal with Google half the time with all those ads and the websites with their flash players.

From what I've gathered from looking at screenshots and looking at their website, it's a quasi-RPG/strategy game that involves PvP team type stuff.

Hard to explain.
Wiki describes it as a Multi-player battle arena game.
It's part rts, pert multiplayer pvp. It's hard to describe in all honesty.

Drok is pretty close in describing.
Did anyone mention it's free?

Giving work the middle finger for scheduling me for only 24 hours this week. They're calling me constantly to come in today, but to preserve this matter of principle, I shut my phone off.
If they need me, they should schedule me.

Thank you Drokin and Urial.

Art i know it is none of my business but you should consider going in anyways. My mother is currently a Navy Civillian contracter (she retired from active service) who is now going to lose $500 a month due to the failures of our congress/senate/white house to pass funding and budgets. Reason for this is she will be furloughed (not allowed to work and not being paid for that day) one day a week for pretty much the rest of the year. Now she is looking at picking up ANOTHER job to cover what is lost due to this new situation. On top of that my sister, who is 16, is trying to get a job as well. Neither of them are being successful in that regard as there just is not that many jobs to be had.

My suggestion is just take what you can get, with the way things are if you dont do that you will end up losing more than you bargain for as there are always others around just waiting for a job position to open up.

I'd be inclined to agree with Xaxial, if for slightly different reasons.

Is the person trying to call you in the person who wrote the schedule? If not, then you can't hold it against that particular person for your lack of hours.

I also look at it like this... I don't do the schedule for the people I manage - my boss does. But when something unexpected comes up and I need to call someone in, whether or not they answer my call/come in still reflects on them, and my evaluation gets passed on to my boss, as well. (Not like an official thing, but when I tell my boss my opinion on someone, he listens.)

If someone is reliable enough that they're willing to come in, despite their scheduled hours and personal feelings over them, they're more likely to be looked upon for more responsibility further down the road.

If I'm looking to get someone moved from part-time to full-time, or from full-time into management, you can bet their attendance and willingness to work is going to be a factor.

From what I can gather, you're already reliable... It's just a matter of making your boss(es) see it.

I've done all of the above for the past 6 years and it is absolutely thankless. This is me simply taking advantage of not being obligated and sending a passive message.

That is a big factor too Drokin, and I agree. I was just sticking to the side that I know is passed over alot. If people just do the bare minimum and skip on on those calls into work during off time, when the axe comes it will come down on them. And there are PLENTY of people waiting just outside the door ready to take your place

Sadly art, this is all too true of EVERYWHERE you go. On deployment I worked 20-24 hours a day alot of times, sometimes less sometimes more, for 6 months straight with only a few days port visits at a time to breath. This is largely unthanked, both by the command and the people. More recently, i have been called into work more often (remember military work on salaries so overtime is a myth) and do ALOT for my command on a daily basis. This has largely gone unthanked for a long time. Recently though I found out I am being put in for an award, a new Medal to put on my chest. Sometimes you wont get thanked for a long long time, then suddenly get thanked in a big way.

TL:DR / just stick with it. Do the right thing all the time and sooner or later it WILl be rewarded.

Don't misunderstand, I perfectly understand both of your stances and they are perfectly true and accurate to just about every work situation or scenario. However, there's only a handful of people in the store that are trained to operate what I do most consistently, and for as long as I can remember have always taken advantage of call-ins and working hard to maintain an image of integrity and reliance. However, when slapped with 24 hours for virtually no plausible reason (at least on a superficial level), I'm going to go on a whim and show them how shitty and stressful things get when they don't allocate hours accordingly.

Also I don't think there's anything more than a pat on the back as far as rewards go for working at a grocery store. My dinky union takes better care of me than the company itself. You should hear some of the stories of store directors cutting corners, jumping through loopholes and whatnot despite how unethical or long reaching consequences or repercussions they have down the line.
