I thought Auto-running into a wall near enemies was a cheap way to level sneak...but I just discovered that you can sneak into a wall IN YOUR OWN HOUSE and get skillups from Lydia.
edit: also, she seems to like playing musical chairs with herself while I'm doing this.
All Lydia does in my house is stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down, eat bread, stand up, sit down...wash, rinse, repeat.
Sorry of this has already been said...has anyone run into the "Challenger?" I have run into him in several towns and he can one or two shot me. Its ridiculous and annoying.
Any ideas?
I had one show up after I went back to Whiterun from the mages college. He wanted me to fight him with magic, so I used bound weapons since they're conjuration. He bitched about it, so I summoned an atronach. He bitched about that too.
Which reminded me of countless melee RDM vs other DD threads where the RDMs want a "fair" fight while imposing huge handicaps on the DD, so I just cleaved him in half and called it a day.
\Well for some reason (maybe I am just gimp atm, but I have been doing fine in all other respects) the "Challenger" kicks my *** in like .5 seconds. I can't even get close to him or take aim at him. As soon as I stand still for one second...huge fireball to the face. I have tried a ward, which can help me get out of the way and hide a bit, but wards cost a ***-ton of magicka. I am Breton though so maybe I should try my power to resist magicka.
Don't have this game yet, but can you enchant five pieces of armor with 20% chameleon on each piece like you could in Oblivion?
Why would you want to?
I haven't found a chameleon-type enchanted item yet, so I don't know if they exist in this game. The full chameleon suit completely broke Oblivion. I wish I never found that exploit.
do any shops sell refined malachite? if so where? or is it that i havent waited long enough since i was able to smith with it for it to be sold?
3 Refined ingots and 1 ore can be found outside the mine where Delphine takes you to slay the Dragon (Horn of Jorgun Windcaller portion of Grey Bears quest). I believe that mine may also have many more ores, as the gentlemen just outside the mine offers to pay 30g for any unrefined mal. ores you can get him.
Two questions for you guys, first of all first person view or third person view? I always use first person except with greatswords, for some reason my character seems to like to dance about when I use it and I get lost in first person mode during a fight so I third person it up there.
Second question, do you have a story building up with your character? Like not in game so to speak but maybe some little bits you have added to it yourself.
I use a mix of first and third depending on what I'm fighting, dragons I've found easier in 3ed for example. As for the story bit I just kinda combine it all together in my head like so...
(I put the first spoiler yesterday)
I had just bought my house in whiterun and was going to check it out. On the way realized I hadn't checked out the inn yet so went into there, figured I could drink the mage under the table so went for it. Next think I know I'm in the temple thinking, well I havn't seen this yet either so it's all good. Clean up my giant toe and ***then go outside expecting to be in the same town. I look around "Where the hell am I" *open map and see how far away I am "What the F was in that booze". Then some chick got knifed and of corse I stuck my noes in it which has landed me in some prison that supposedly nobody escapes from, where I beat some guy and stole his moon sugar to trade for a knife. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
So having aquired myself a trusty shiv and beating someone else I feel confident in not getting raped being the only woman in the prison and seek out this leader guy. His toppless orc bodyguard however whats my shiv as a trade for letting me see him, I don't like this idea so instead I beat him up too and just walk in where the guy sends me to hear the sob stories of the other prisoners then has me kill something. Stuff happens and I'm running out the frount gates of the city where I take an arrow in the butt and just keep running.
I decide I should go meet that mage where somewhere along the line I found out to meet him and upon arriveing a pissed off farmer informs me that I stole his goat and traded it to a giant. He won't tell me where to head next unless I return his goat or pay for the goat so goat hunting it is! Now at this point I'm tired and grumpy having been attacked by several bandits, stumbled down a mountain, walked into a sleeping dragon and cleared out a random house full of rats (which for some reason I felt like their should be pillows everwhere, wonder why) so I'm hoping to get this goat as peacefully as I can, and I do. Once finding them wandering around in the clearing I let the goat sniff me, since apperently I still smell of that wonder-booze and he likes it so will follow me. Then I bolt, goat in toe, angry giant ready to throw into the sky lagging behind. I return the goat and farmer dude directs me back to a woman whiterun(?), where it all began.
I arrive and seek the woman out right away hoping that atlast all this will be resolved. But nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, turns out I'm engaged to another woman and as I could have guessed the site of the wedding is another 1/4 of the way across skyrim. I begin my grumbling trot across the frozen lands and woe to any beast that gets in my way. Then on this tiny island in a lake that looked like an interesting distraction I get swarmed by mudcrabs... Fing mudcrabs and the little *** are winning. Sure I'm downing them but they just keep comming and I just say screw it and hop in the small hatch at my feet thinking I'll be safe for a few moments then can go back and destroy those hell spawn crabs.
The feasting vampires however are all like lolnope!
And thats where I last left off... Anyone else have crazy stories? XD
Attempting to level Enchanting, any tips on where to find Petty Soul Gems?
Any Dwarven ruins has em by the ton also easier is just camp the trading posts they resupply every 48hrs. My favorite gem spot is Alftand Glacial Ruins and the connecting areas many mobs are powered by soul gems. Plue I get to kill falmer which I am on a personal campaign to wipe from the face of Skyrim.

One major problem I'm having with my current char. It's taking FOREVER to skill up my weapons because everything dies too fast ; ;
You can always turn up the difficulty as well.
I play on master
I play on normal and have a hell of a time with some of the 'big fights'.. I think I'd gouge out my eyes on Master. It'd bring back... Unpleasant memories of God of War II on Titan Mode.

Cheap, unavoidable deaths aren't my forte. Probably why I'm 1% through Demon's Souls
However, I'm playing on (whatever the lv 1 below Master is), and have been enjoying it thoroughly. If you walk into a place you aren't supposed to be, you have a 90% chance of getting it handed to you. If you use strategy, you can take on a few tough enemies, and you walk all over lower level stuff as you level up. I think it is well balanced. You may want to up it once just to see how it plays out.
I think those are glitch re-kills. Sometimes you'll kill what the game to be considers a dragon you have already killed. A rage worthy glitch, but a glitch nonetheless.

Isn't the point of the Dragon Born killing them so that they don't come back because you drain their soul... Silly game.
I just hope they fix some of the physics glitches, when i was sneaking through Goldenglow Estate i was doing hit'n'run on a couple of mercs, had to hide in a store room and when i closed the double doors the entire room pretty much exploded round me >.>
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
