alchemy and enchanting are the hardest for me, enchanting because of all the soul gems, though i have soul capture on my sword, so that makes it a little easier. and alchemy, figuring out where all the ingredients are can be annoying

Yes you can upgrade it more than once, and no it's not necessarily about the perk.. Even without the perk for whatever set you're working on, if you have + smithing gear and/or a good blacksmith potion you can still hit legendary.

So far I've seen Flawless, Exquisite and Legendary, they're just grades to give you a rough estimate of how 'good' the gear is.

I had upgraded both my Ebony swords to legendary and then put an enchantment on them, I don't remember exact numbers, but they were at like 40 dmg or something, this was at 90 smithing. After I got smithing to 100, I went back and upgraded them again, they're still legendary but the damage climbed 5-7 points.

If I were to wear + smithing gear and drink a potion, I could probably upgrade them a third time.
I was unaware that you could actually upgrade multiple times if the initial upgrade was weaker. I assume that the new upgrade simply overwrites the previous.

You can only make subsequent upgrades if your 'upgrade effectiveness' is higher than when you first upgraded it. Which to my knowledge there is only 3 ways to do that.. 1. level smithing more (obviously this option is out if you're already at 100) 2. drink a potion that raises your upgrade effectiveness, 3. put on gear that raises it.

29% is not the highest, but I will say that I spent the better part of an entire day (while catching up on TV shows I'd missed the last week) just spamming crafts. Basically the improvements become minor but you can still continue to improve. There are youtube videos where the guy I learned it from finally finished (or rather stopped trying for better) his bow and it's at like 1400dmg.

I also forgot my body armor, but I haven't actually enchanted yet because I don't have light armor enchantment to put on it lol.

Still not sure if having 2 followers is worth it. The extra arrow sponge is nice but trying to keep them alive (reloading saves every other battle) is starting to get annoying.

so he spent a couple hours wandering between 2 farms jacking wheat, and then he finally starts heading the right way and he goes right up to a fort of mages and walks through some flamethrower traps and right into the mages and dies.

i raged soooooo hard.

then i reloaded, and told him to go to ivarstead, and he's going right so far now.

So I had a few quetions for uptradig equipment and enchanting skill ups.

Is there anything higher then "Legendary"? I was reading somewhere you can continue to upgrade your items and they will stay legenday but it says I lack the skill. Anyway I can get smithing higher then 100?

And what do you guys recommend for Enchanting and Alchemy skill ups?
Legendary is just the modifier attached to it when you upgrade a piece of armor while having the relevant perk for it (as far as I could tell). You can't upgrade a piece of armor more than once. You can't get smithing higher than 100, but you can enchant ring/necklace/hands/body with a bonus to smithing (makes upgrading gear better), and you can brew potions that do the same.

For enchanting, if you are rich just go around the world buying filled soul gems (college at winterhold is great) and use them to enchant random pieces of gear until you hit 100. Another method is to get the black star first, enchant a weapon with soul trap, then go on a killing spree while recharging your weapon after every kill. Or you could take the long/cheap road and buy a bunch of unfilled petty/lesser gems, then go slaughter innocent animals to fill them.

For alchemy, I highly suggest leveling enchanting first. Alchemy skill ups are based on the value of the potion you make. So, you should first enchant a full set of alchemy+ gear (ring/necklace/head/gloves) and then find recipes which make high value potions. This process will make you ridiculously rich, assuming you sell all the useless potions you make. Some good recipes are:
giant's toe + glowing mushroom
bear claws + hanging moss + eye of sabre cat
glow dust + glowing mushroom + hanging moss
creep cluster + mora tapinella + scaly pholiata
Anything that has slow, paralyze, or invisible

The highest I got my crafting gear was +29% on each piece, and my best potions were 32% enchanting and 130% smithing. Can anyone confirm this is the highest?

edit: Also, there is an item "Notched Pickaxe" at the top of the throat of the world which increases smithing skill by 1. I found it after making all of my gear, so I'm not sure how much of an impact that has.

Blue butterfly wings + blue mountain flower. When I said I spent all my time chasing butterflies and picking flowers, it's because this is the fastest way to level alchemy. Monarch butterfly wings and tundra cotton makes a barter potion. So yeah, that's my lil' secret out.

But yes, I can also confirm that the highest armor I crafted for alchemy/smithing was 29%, which brought fortify smithing potions to 130% and fortify enchanting potions to 32%. I'd assume that's the cap as my Daedric sword's price is 6666. Coincidence? Douting it. Unless there is an in game item that gives a higher percentage, these are the current highest caps.

Any suggestions? It's rather annoying.

Dragonborn Troubleshooting 101

1. Try stabbing it.
2. Try filling it with arrows.
3. Trying burning/freezing/electrocuting it.
4. Try yelling at it.
5. Turn into a werewolf.

Solves almost any problems I have come across.

Whats everyones favourite way to kill a dragon?

Whenever they land and i try and fight it up close it seems like suicide!

My other question is, what difficulty is everyone on? I'm on Adept and some bits are easy and some stupidly hard

Dragons are always going to get murdered with my bow.

But I'm wondering what Stones/Powers everyone uses asides from Warrior/Thief/ Mage skill up stones? Previous games id always use Lady. Kind of debating between a few in this one.

I personally use the one that lets you carry an extra 100, I think its called Steed. I have seen one that upgrades everything instead of just one, that one seems pretty neat.

I've been using the sneak stone until I get to 100... currently at 85. Once it's 100 i'll switch to the Steed. Best one I have found so far. No reduced movement from armor and also extra inventory!

29% is not the highest
8%(Base)*2.32(enchant 5/5 +32% potion)*1.25(enchanter perk)*1.25(2nd perk) = 29%

29% alchemy/smithing on armor should be the cap. 32% for enchant potions.

Honestly though people dont even need 32% for potions, 25% is more than enough. You can get +28% for armor which is more than enough with just 3 perks of defense in any heavy armor, and 4 if you go lower than 82 for light(or 3 if you go with the 25% full light perk, and less if you go with the 25% full set perk aswell).

Even on master its more than enough for weapons to deal enough damage.

Lord's stone is pretty nice for the +25% magic resistance, add that with alterations +30% and gear piece/breton race and youll take minimal damage(cap is 85%).

Whenever they don't land and just fly around infinitely is annoying/suicide to me, haven't really leveled up bow so usually Lydia has to take care of the flying-happy dragons (I feel so bad for her, lol) The only epic killshot I got was the first mandatory dragonfight, charged up a stamina attack with my warhammer and just impaled its face into the ground

On my assassin character: Shadow Stone. Ability to disappear immediately after murdering someone works great.

Mage: Ritual stone. Mass zombify, works great after killing everything then using them all to destroy boss class mobs. Or... for more fun, kill all the livestock at a farm, wipe out a few of the towns people, drag them all into a pile, and revive everything to attack a guard, or the rest of the townsfolk when they wake up.
