Okay, so no one but a Dragonborn or those who have trained in the Way of the Voice can withstand hearing even a whisper from the Grey Beards...
But if you take a companion with you and talk to the Grey Beards, they don't die.. Despite the voice being powerful enough to shake the entire building.
Obviously your companion is secretly a dragonborn too.

Lol I was worried at that part since I had Lydia in the circle with me, I was like ***glad I quicksaved before this she's going to die.
Yeaa her chatter is incredibly annoying. Companions in general are really. I often find they can't even keep up with me when I'm running around places, takes them 5 minutes to find me. Their AI in general is sad, companions from mods in Oblivion have more integrity. :\
I wonder if there's a developer interview where they tell us how many times Lydia was dropped on her head as a child.
i keep her locked in my house, thats about all she is good for lol
I ditched her and got that lady that worships the Daedra... She seems to be doing pretty good, except I traded her some armor and now shes naked, except for a helmet. Ooops.
I prefer running around just by myself. Companions totally *** up my sneak playstyle. I was annoyed doing the Companions quest and that sealed the deal that I would just run around solo.
Been playing on the xbox. The loading time is killing me, open an house door and it has to load. Going through menus are slow and saving is a chore. How does the PC version handle this? I'm thinking about getting it from steam.
Really fun game otherwise, graphics still look good on the xbox. I am going full destruction mage.

Can you install it to the HD? Should make it run a LOT smoother. :o

It is HIGHLY recommended on the boards to not install on a xbox HDD as it leads to an increase (for some reason) in the number of glitches. I can personally attest to this as I had a game breaker come up, uninstalled and ran off the disc and it works fine now.

Unable to install on Hd at the moment. Due to graphics issues. Mine runs fine on a new Xbox, losing times from zoning is about 10-15 seconds and no lag in menus except when making my character, and sometimes when it auto saves.
I believe there was actually a patch that made it not possible to play off HD. Only reason I know is because I have a disassembled Xbox just to play games from the Hd on(you can take the game out an play it on another Xbox. Ideal for friends!).
Are there any sooper dooper items in this game that are in like weird places? Like for instance the only one I remember in oblivion was a lockpick you could find that would never break, so you could spam a master lock all day and just get skillups.
Skeleton key is back in the game, but you can only use it until you finish the Thief's Guild Quest line. And iirc it was a daedric quest in Oblivion. So far I've ran into Molag Bal, Mehrune Dagon, Azura, and Meridia's Questlines. Not sure if there's any other Daedric quests in this game or not.
theres a sheogorath quest too, and one for a cult of another daedra.
vaermina was the name of the one from dawnstar's quest

I'm on an i7, 9GB RAM and a 1GB HD4870 and I have pretty much 0 loading time. Those images with a single sentence of text, I don't know what the last half of half of them say because I can't read them fast enough.
I've heard that loading on consoles sucks if you install it to your HDD due to a caching issue, if you did that try uninstalling it. I haven't heard of problems with load times otherwise unless on PC and running FRAPs or something.
If you have the option to get it on PC though, do it. PC version is superior.
There's also mod potential to think about for PC version, considering what people have managed to do with oblivion and fallout, i'm expecting some epic mods like huge dragon battles.
And if someone creates a midas magic style mod for skyrim, gonna be amazing.
though i heard that atm the pc version is the buggiest of the 3. im playing on ps3 version, and the loads arent terrible, but arent split second either
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
