And how do you kill the vampire head guy who releases the dogs on you?
I keep dying...
anyone? would be appreciated :)
Can technically do it with the console. Unfortunately this usually leads to AI problems.
Keep in mind that this can also disable achievements.
If you want to though:
1) Press the `/~ key.
2) Click on the corpse of your dead companion.
3) Type resurrect and press enter.
4) Press the `/~ key again to close the console.

If it's too hard now, go away and come back later when you get some more levels, once you go into the dungeons the levels are set, even if you level up, or so I've heard. So if something is ridiculously hard at the moment, you could go away and get a few levels and come back and it would only be difficult.
Has anyone here sided with the Imperials? I am curious if I can still assist the Gray Manes and fight the Thalmor while still siding with the Imperials. Kind of an odd contrast but maybe still possible.
I have yet to have a negative consequence of helping the gray manes in that quest while being aligned with the empire.
Yeah, I'm doing Missing In Action, and it involves killin a loooooot of imperials and thalmor guards. I don't wanna screw myself if I was already had my allegiance to the Empire.

Wow I totally forgot about all that stuff. I can't believe how much I have been doing without even getting the first town missions cleared.
Totally not siding with them when I do though, they seem like a buncha jerky jerks to me. I only played Oblivion a little while and I definately did not like they way they treated me... which reminds me I meant to ask you guys earlier. Do you always start out as a criminal/prisoner in these games and do they ever explain why you were such in the first place?
It's funny you mention that. Every Elder Scrolls game starting from Morrowind involves you being a prisoner of sorts, not really explaining or giving detail as to how you got there or why, but are rather quickly thrust into a situation that is far more dire than your involvement in being imprisoned.

Meh. Not gonna spoil the plot for you, don't worry about it though you'll be aight
Actually I'm still in a neutral position but have the prompt to join the Imperials. I figured a majority of quests should be done prior to joining up either side as I figured that would limit the chances of which ones become available to me and who I have involvement with.

You have been found guilty of 547 counts of first degree murder, and for the burning down of 300 orphanages, and for kicking a puppy, I hereby sentence you to OH ***A DRAGON! Can you go get me 20 nirnroots?

For what it's worth, I sided with the Stormcloaks just because Jarl Ulfric is voiced by Vladimir Kulich and he has an amazing voice.
Yeah, it's nice though cause Fireball has a nice big AOE explosion that can take out more than one foe at once, and there's something satisfying about impaling a baddie with a giant spike of ice and seeing it go through them.
But lightning, as awesome as it is, just makes me think of cartoons.
I find that AOE attacks in this game roughly translate into some sort of follower language for "Jump in the way and die so I can load an autosave."
Like I have the first word of the fire shout and every damn time I try and use it, Lydia is somehow in the fray and has tripped and fallen on her sword just before it hits. -_-

I have sided with the imperials.. The Roman aspect is what got me, both the Imperials and Stormcloaks are a bunch of *** smokers, so I chose the side based on redeeming values, of which the only one I found is my great interest in Roman culture.
However, I can't say anything about the Grey Manes.. But from what I've picked up, it seems like there are almost hierarchical factions. I.E. the Imperial vs Stormcloak decision is above others like Battle-born vs Grey-mane. I'm just going on a hunch here though, so don't quote me on it.

My personally theory is that Maiq the Liar is a time traveller...possibly Alessia herself or some Aedric avatar. So, in order to keep the cosmic balance, Maiq steals babies, puts them into stasis for twenty-seventy years and then throws them in prison with no knowledge of how they got there.
See, Maiq knows everything past, present, and future. So he finds infants that he knows have the power to save the world and keeps them safe and puts them in a position where they can best follow that path.
Evidence? Maiq is in all three games and in Oblivion he says he saw a *** dragon.
Just found a freakin Katana in Bloated Man's Grotto (absolutely gorgeous "dungeon"), supposedly belonged to the last member of the Blades out in hiding here. His body can't be found anywhere, but he left a note and his sword by a statue of Talos.
However, I found out it's one handed...
Dreams of being a pseudo-samurai class...shattered.
Hell, you can find one in the basement of the inn in Riverwood. I'm still using that one(dmg28). But yeah anyway reason I popped in was because I have a story to share.
So I bought a horse today for the first time... A friend told me that, even though you're carrying too many items, you can still get on a horse and fast travel. To sell/store items. Anyway, bought it and fast traveled to Dawnstar. Got off the horse and went to finish up a quest. Before I open the door, the dragon battle music starts playing... I turn around in time to see the thing swoop down and one shot my horse...
UGH! so I do this trick for the restoration magic, I tell Lydia to stand at the bottom of the stairs while I stand in the magic crap and heal myself. I throw a rubber band on the controller and play some MVC3. When I come back to check my levels it autosaves and when I look around she is gone. no corpse or anything, just gone. My last save-save was 14 levels and I don't know how many dungeons etc ago -_-
She is literally no where. I was able to take another follower right away so she must have either died or disbanded I dont know.

Stormcloaks are racist too, They protect Nord caravans from bandits, but when another races caravan gets attacked, they dont lift a finger :p.
Both sides are horrible.
I went with the Legion in honour of the Imperial Guards of Oblivion. :(
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
