a word of warning to any wishing to get skyrim on console and only have a 4:3 tv... its not that pleasant >.>; top and bottom (mostly top) are cut off, so you can't see your rewards for quests and hardly where you are going... i kinda got used to it, but I'm gonna be camping steam over the next year for when skyrim goes on sale XD seems my laptop can run it much better than i initially thought
iirc the perk doesn't have any effect on stamina, just carry weight
Ugh. So it will still drain my stamina like crazy eh? It says it doesn't weigh anything and it wont' slow you down... but yeah, that's vague enough to hint at not affecting stamina.
Starting to debate whether I should switch to Light Armor. Seems to give a better benefit overall, especially with all the additional increase to armor rating and recovering stamina much faster.
That's always the #1 problem for any melee type: Stam goes down quick.
I would say move to light armour. There is definitely a decrease in armour rating by doing so, but I feel that the benefits (especially the weightlessness of the light armour and 10% chance to evade melee attacks entirely) outweigh that.
I'm torn. I would love to sport heavy dragon/daedric armor when I get to the point of being able to smith and wear them. However, there seems to be more detriment to wearing heavy armor than there is compared to light armor.
I suppose it all depends on what magical enchantments cater most to in terms of one-handed weaponry and shield use.
But does armor rating only affect mitigation to physical blows, or can it reduce magic and breath attacks from dragons?
Armour has 0% effect on magic mitigation, unless enchanted to do so.
lol just noticed that you can shoot lanterns and ***off of the ceiling to explode on enemies <_<
LOL this is one of the strategies I've implored since dungeon #1. (I cheat and read about entire dungeons and quests in my handy-dandy strat guide because I'm a loser like that. This was one of the things it mentioned to help aid yourself in crowded dungeons.)
Also, look for huge spills of oil on the ground. There will usually be an encounter with numerous enemies in that area, and it would make sense to try to crowd them over the oil then set it on fire. Let the terrain and environment do work for you.
For some things in RPGs such as this or Zelda, I like having a general direction. It doesn't kill the exploration or immersion at all for me.
It's the same thing people use the wiki for. I mostly do it because in a game such as this, where nearly every quest takes you to a fork where there are two futures depending on your chosen path, I like knowing which path will 1) most benefit my character (rewards, etc) and 2) which path would be most true to the type of character I am playing (most always play a 'good' person as much as I can on first play throughs. These are heroic games, I try to play a character that would be honorable and do what is right even when no one is looking.)
kinda defeats the purpose of RolePlaying tho, as being casted on a role and walking into the unknown, making choices on the spot and take the rewards/punishment for your auctions, and not knowing whats going to happen and just deal with things as they come, this really makes the game feel more special when playing trough rather than...
knowing (from chapter1) you Father, who you never met is the real villain set to destroy the world and if you kill him with a chicken feather he drops is megapwnzor giant sword that can 1shot the hidden secret mega boss, and tells you where to jump and how.....
I would agree with you completely in this case. Stuff like ffxi I have no problems using wiki for. How else would you ever figure out any of the quests. Elder Scrolls, however, is MUCH easier to figure stuff out, where you need to be going, etc. Plus talking to NPC's in this game actually gives you useful information.

True, but I just like having the knowledge of what's ahead if I want it. Besides, it's the only way to be in the game when my wife is hogging the TV (currently getting another one to get her out of my way)
I only use strategy guides after I've played through a couple of times when I want to get everything 100% that I haven't done yet. Secrets and stuff are so much more rewarding when you didn't know that they were coming.

Strat guide is amazing at having a spoiler alert at the beginning of each quest. If it has spoilers, I don't read anything about it. Has a nifty little tabbed reward near the end of each quest. I can see what I'll get by choosing what side without ruining good surprises.

yeah, some games do fall into the "need a guide" rule, like FFXI, tho there are guides there that help you accomplish things without ruining the story, and in FFXI's case, you already payed your dues and know most areas
Ok got a question, So I found a total of 5 daedric hearts and i made the sword and all the armor for it and when I crafted them I upgraded them to legendary even the sword and then i went and put 2 enchantments all of them then I was running around and found a daedric relic sword and I went to go upgrade it and some other stuff I found and when I did it let me upgrade my legendary daedric gear and sword again still says legendary but it boosted the stats again I have made legendary dragon gear but never any with 2 enchantments and it has never let me upgrade them so anyone know whats up with that?
do the quest where you're supposed to kill Greta the Kind or w/e her name is at the orphanage, and after it's completed a courier will end up running up and giving you a note with a blck hand that says "we know".
I think that's how you get on their radar anyways.

I'm supposed to kill this old lady Agnis and I've tried about 5 times now. But everytime I successfully kill her everyone at the Brotherhood is upset with me and I have to pay a 500 gold fine. |:
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
