My little brother watched me start up a new game and jokingly said I should name my Nord: Link.
Just for shits and giggles I did. Decided it would be fun to dabble in the awesome concept of this "Elder Scrolls" edition of Link, having a beard fitting for a battle hardened badass, scars holding testimony of a long life faced with unfathomable amounts of battle and adventure, wielding a gnarly sword, heavy armor (*** tunics), a shield that would bring shame to your typical Hylian shield, a wicked bow with arrows, fancy restoration and alteration magic (recovering hearts, Nayru's love), all sporting the classic blonde hair, blue eyes and the namesake.

..i ended up buying a copy for xbox too since I was having issues with the PC (and couldnt do other ***while playing on pc)
I preorded the CE for xbox 360(because I like console games for long gaming sessions so I can chillax in the chair/sofa) and I knew it was gonna be a few days late coming in, so I went ahead and picked it up for PC on release day. After playing it on PC for 3-4 days, and then popping my disc into the 360, I was pissed. It's like night/day between the 2 versions.
This may have to do with my PC just being flat out ballin', but loading times are almost non-existent (I actually get pissed because I can barely read half of the words on the loading screen tips/lore before it loads), way higher FPS. Plus the graphics seem way better, can really tell when you run them side-by-side. Not even counting all of the texture enhancement mods and other mods like sunglare, enhanced night sky, Ambient Occlusion, that really add to the immersion, and make the game look absolutely beautiful (even more than it already is), I'm basically running it on Ultra ++.
I refuse to play it on xbox ever again. I actually sold it to a friend for $50, and kept the statue and art book, lol.
PS: No offense to anyone playing on Xbox, just my personal opinion. I'm actually disappointed that I can't make myself play it on xbox, because I would actually prefer too :(. Oh well... *runs HDMI cable to 42" TV and uses wireless xbox controller on PC* Problem solved.

Did you make sure to put the sword in his left hand, shield in his right? That'd be tough to get used to.

I've heard the load screens on console take way longer than PC.
I was raging at the loading screens on PC as well, Dammit I want to know about Hagravens! But no, you just HAVE to load too fast!

Thanks for reminding me that Link is indeed left handed, but unfortunately the game does not allow you to equip a shield on anything but your left arm. It seems we'll just have to make this Link ambidextrous. Kind of dumb, since you can use a sword left hand, and magic on your right, but no shield >_>
Just went into Blackreach and... holy ***. I filled up myself and Aela and had to make an emergency exit to the surface to sell ***, and I couldn't even sell more than 7-8 of the items <_<
It might be rather noob of me for noticing just now, but is it me or does stamina deplete much quicker when you're wearing heavy armor and weaponry? I was able to run for quite a long time while wearing nothing but robes on my mage. But I'm going heavy armor paladin style and my stam bar is gone after a few seconds.
Yeah that's one of the negatives of heavy armor. Blessing of the Steed offsets it though (and gives you 50 extra carrying capacity :D_)
Yeah, I might have to get that blessing until I can get the "Conditioning" perk. Hopefully that won't affect stamina depletion if it doesn't weigh me down.
iirc the perk doesn't have any effect on stamina, just carry weight
Ugh. So it will still drain my stamina like crazy eh? It says it doesn't weigh anything and it wont' slow you down... but yeah, that's vague enough to hint at not affecting stamina.
Starting to debate whether I should switch to Light Armor. Seems to give a better benefit overall, especially with all the additional increase to armor rating and recovering stamina much faster.
That's always the #1 problem for any melee type: Stam goes down quick.
I'm torn. I would love to sport heavy dragon/daedric armor when I get to the point of being able to smith and wear them. However, there seems to be more detriment to wearing heavy armor than there is compared to light armor.
I suppose it all depends on what magical enchantments cater most to in terms of one-handed weaponry and shield use.
But does armor rating only affect mitigation to physical blows, or can it reduce magic and breath attacks from dragons?
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
