You can perk an increase to armour rating when wearing a set (atleast in heavy armour, not sure if its the same for Light), but other than that there's not much set bonus :p
I have never gotten very far into any of the games from this series but yesterday I was looking at a page about becoming a vampire or werewolf. It looks like vamps have cons and benefits and the cons are pretty severe, with people hating you and sparkling getting hurt in the sunlight. On the other hand from what I read werewolfism (err lycanthropy?) has the drawback of never getting a fully rested status, which I don't even know if that is such a big deal.
Both of these status "ailments" interest me so just looking for some input from people who play the games as to how much of an impact these things actually have on gameplay etc. Also if anyone knows how long into the game would one have to play before gaining access to these options.
If you know where the vampire dens are, you should be able to do it from the very beginning of the game. For the werewolf, you can damn near go straight to the Companions quest line and become one from the beginning of the game as well. I had the quest line for the Companions flagged within an hour or two of gameplay, and I didn't even go straight to them.
As for the rested or well-rested bonus, I'm not even sure what it does, I haven't had it so I wouldn't call it core or important to have.

It's always been something I've lived by. Getting a Rested status gives a +5% skillup rate bonus for 8 hours, and I believe a Well-rested bonus (From a bed you own) gives a 10% bonus for 8 hours.

Thanks in advance :D
Because Skyrim is more of a wintery area, Sunlight only hinders you as a Vampire, lowering your HP/Stamina/Magicka. And people cant tell you're a Vampire until you go 3 days without feeding off anyone who is sleeping.
As a Werewolf, it's more of a Transformation once per day than proper werewolf. Although if anyone sees you, you're apparently hunted by them :p

Also, I should add, once you have a travelling companion, you can order them to sleep, if you have a secluded bed, such as a house or a bandit camp, it's a nice way to feed if you aren't at stage 4 vampirism :p

So what sort of character is everyone playing? I rolled a Nord since we're in Skyrim and currently exceed in Destruction and Conj. None of my weapon skills are leveled :/ Dual casting ftw!
Oh, I came across what might be a bug of sorts. If you're having a conversation with someone and move too close to them, they seem to skip whatever they're saying and move to the next part of the dialog. Not game breaking, but it sucks when you miss something interesting/important.

Im an Argonian Axe+Shield Heavy Armour. I see it I slash it. Nothing more!
I started off as a thiefy character, but I started to realise Id just run into the fray and kill stuff, so I swapped :p
I'm an Imperial (bonus gold usually always draws my attention in any game) as for specialization, I'm kind of a mutt.. I have points in One handed, Heavy Armor, Two Handed, Smithing, Enchanting, Lock Picking, Archery, Alchemy, Destruction and Speech. I haven't really been focusing on anything.
My highest skills are One Handed and Heavy Armor. (50 and 54)
nord dual wielding swords, i plan to level everything though, going for one-handed, light armor, smithing, lockpicking, speech, and whatever else i fancy
Is there a way to play with friends on Skyrim? >_> I bought it yesterday and now my friend's picking it up too, but I haven't noticed a "play online" type deal anywhere on it.
i saw something about a glitch to level speech quickly, you talk to someone in riften, and it gives a large amount of speech skill, and as soon as you see the skillup thing, you cancel out of it and you can do it over and over

Sooo, sorry if I ask something silly, but you people made me curious and so I'm gonna ask about the thing that I find most interesting: how much customization can you put in your character?(from creation to development).

You can customize every part of your head from cheek bones to eye placement. The rest of your body is pretty much pre-made.
Your characters visual appearance is pretty open ended. Down to like length/height of the nose, depth of the eyes, width/length of the chin, stuff like that.
The colors for skin and hair are presets though, you only have so many to choose from, there isn't a RBG slider for total custom colors.
The development system for your character is also pretty open ended, you're free to put perks into whatever you want. Your health/magicka/stamina can be raised by 10 every level. If you really felt like it you could keep your health and magicka at 100 (base) and just put everything into stamina..
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
