Video card question for pc hardware geeks out there:
With my paycheck becoming sizable and November shopping bargains coming up, anyone know a of a great card to play Skyrim with? I'm currently using a lolgeforce9500gt and it's leaving much to be desired.
Not exactly what you're asking BUT just to help you make a decision, I'm using a 9800 GTX+ which is fairly old and I'm pumping out some great graphics.
Of course better is better, just saying, you don't NEED to SLI or anything to run the game well :)
you know, at first i thought i would hate the new lock picking system, but im actually better at it than oblivions system =)
Out of all the lock pick systems I've ever messed with in games, I liked Two Worlds 2 the most. It made it feel more like skill than luck. You can pick master locks even with no points in lock picking in Skyrim, but it's mostly luck.. It's also possible to pick master locks in Two Worlds 2 with no extra skill put into it, but it's mostly skill and timing.
Despite how easy that looks, it can be quite a pain in the ***. You only have so long before the pick breaks, and every time you hit the tumblers wrong you lose your last 'locked in' tumbler.
I have a weird question. I noticed a lot of shout powers are most suitable for up close combat, yet my favorite character type is the sneaky type. How suitable are shout powers for those that move in shadows and cut throats?

So far that I've seen, they're not.. Although there is this one that could help you run away faster to avoid direct combat.. I'd just reserve them for the "Oh ***, I'm backed into a corner and have to fight" moments.
So far I have the fire one, one I never use and can't remember (first one) and the one that rips people's weapons out of their hands (won't work on bosses) I have access to the 'wind' one where it propels you like 30 feet in a couple of seconds and tested it out but didn't see how I could really make much use of it (since recharge time on shouts is of a decent length) so I reloaded to just before I spent a dragon soul on it.. I'm saving that dragon soul until I find a shout I can make use of.
Unless you don't care about losing her, keep an eye on her in heavy combat situations and save before you go into one.. I've had to reload at least 6 or 7 times already because of her frailness. Right now she's keeping a chair warm in my house, in my bedroom actually... The hell's she thinking? That she's going to get the master bedroom with the queen sized bed just because I never use it?? Her bedroom is that closet with a cot in it!

Ugh, I didn't get that far in the game, but I think the PS3's HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE auto save thingy overwrote my initial save file of my primary character. Strangely it kept auto saves from WAY far back otherwise.
I might just disable auto save altogether if I can and keep individual saves to differentiate my character builds.
woah, i just did dustman's cairn for proving honor, and i made like over 1k gold straight from picking it up. every single enemy had gold on it (minus the rats). there was also some pretty good loot in there too
edit: <- now a werewolf. give 100% disease resistance in both forms, and you can choose to transform whenever you want, or not at all if you prefer
Ok so I baught skyrim for ps3....., and it didnt work...well at least not for my ps3, I have a 150gig 1st generation, that came with Uncharted, Every game/dvd/bluray I have put on my ps3 has worked, until I got xmen first class on bluray, and only my ps3 wouldnt play for some reason, then today when i tried to play skyrim, It didnt work either, I tried it on my bro's ps3, and it worked fine, so did xmen first class. has anyone had a problem like this?, i think im going to send my ps3 in, and have them look at it,
Btw, I played skyrim for about 4hours, and thought it was awesome, already Like it better then oblivion.
So far in my 16hrs of playing I've finished the mage guild thingy, started on the dark brotherhood, and half way through the thieves guild. Also killed a few giants and 5 dragons.
is it just me or do the guards all sound like arnold swarzenegger?
Lol I've been thinking the same thing.. Well not that they sound like Arnold, more like someone's horrible impression of him. Only person I've ever heard do a good one is Pablo Francisco.

The laser is going out on the disc reader. Same exact thing happened to me, just with different games/discs, some would work, some wouldn't, some would work only some of the time, some would get to the loading screen for like the main menu then just stop.
You can replace it yourself for cheaper than sending it in if the warranty is dead on it and you're handy with electronics, it's not that hard, not any soldering or anything, you just have to take it apart and replace the laser which is as simple as unplugging the old one and plugging in a new one. There's plenty of guides on the internet on how to do it step by step, and guides to identify the exact laser you need.
There's also a chance (a slim one) that the lens is dirty and needs to be cleaned, there's guides for that as well.
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
