First thing I did after leaving the openning area was kill a bunny :D
Speaking of which, did anyone notice Archery is significantly more difficult and skilled to partake in than it was in Oblivion?
I mean it really requires you to sit still and take good aim before loosing your arrow, while in Oblivion you could dance around in circles with your string pulled back and still get a perfect shot off.
I don't have the game yet (DDD:) but it's not more difficult for me, because it glitched in my copy of Oblivion and never shot straight, it like flew off in a weird angle everytime I pulled the string back. Idk what happened to it.
That sucks, but what I've noticed is your aim the moment you pull back your string slows down big time and range of movement with your cursor is significantly more limited, while in Oblivion you could aim your bow in the same manner as you could look around while having your arrow ready.
Perhaps this is based on lack of skill and perks that open up once I obtain more skill in that department. It's a good idea, but I didn't expect it to be downright difficult to use a weapon from scratch and require skill ups and perks before it's worth using in the first place.
One question.. is there any improvements on H2H? I made a monk type dude in oblivion but you couldn't enchant gauntlets with like fire attacks or some ***and the only real move was the paralyzing fist thing :/
Technically I guess bows are designed for long range, that's why NPCs in Oblivion switched to melee weapons even when they were rangers, so the slower turn speed while aimed means more precise aiming. More of a sniper weapon than an all-purpose class weapon, if that makes any sense.

Yeah it makes sense. But in Oblivion, your option to retreat while still retracting your bow was an option. An illogical one, but an option nevertheless. It seems the put a much more realistic weight on the versatility of weapons. But you're right, based on the given mechanics, bow is ideal for long range and sneak attacks, while if you're compromised and the enemy is closing in, you better pull out your blade.

I heard they drastically improved on Hand-to-Hand, but as to how I am not sure. I'm sure there are many interesting perk options, and it seems H2H is host to a myriad of those cool cutscene critical hit animation thingies.

Thanks ^-^ Now I'm excited. I wanna punch a dragon to death >:D
Seems like they were kind of looking for things wrong but couldn't find anything decent to write about.. like the hair? really? that's what you choose? lol and the 3rd person thing.. the game is supposed to be played in 1st.. Beth didn't even have to put 3rd in there. bleh.

Only played it a bit so far (I plan to pace myself) but so far have actually found the 3ed person easier to use in combat then the first person strangly. Biggest difference was with a companion I found myself stabbing them alot less.
I somewhat agree with the hair issue bu not for the helmet thing...
... chara creation... takes effort not ending up with a fugly face lol.
but regardless, im happy with the game

Agreed. Honestly, I don't really like that website. A lot of articles I've read there are flimsy, almost baseless, and little more than bias. So goes the majority of the internet, but their stuff in particular is just head-scratchingly obtuse.
For example, they had a PC gamer on staff do a review of Halo 3 for xbox, and the entire article was written about how the guy hated using a control pad and preferred a mouse and keyboard. It got flamed HARD in the comments section.
I consider Kotaku only one step above 4chan in terms of credibility. It's like, going there for good reviews is like going to 4chan to meet good people. It's just not gonna happen.
Just got my Confirmation email for In-Store pick up!! Unfortunately I won't be able to get it until 6-6:30pm EST tonight. Stupid work getting in the way of my fantasy life!
To satisfy my thirst, for the people playing it, is it blow your F'in doors off awesome? The wife is going out tonight so after I put the kid to bed I'm am shutting the lights off, cranking the volume up and putting this thing on a nice 42" LCD Screen. I got the PS3 version.
There's a lot of rapists then. I think it'll be a rent for me, unless the story is down right amazing.
Ah yes, let's completely ignore the amazing longevity and depth of gameplay in Skyrim, the fantastic atmosphere that, in my opinion, is completely unmatched by any other game in history, but let's complain about hair styles and how combat isn't controllable with the Kinect.
Is there a way to get side quests and stuff to show up with a marker telling you where you need to go I'm missing? The only things with markers that I've seen yet on the map itself seem to just be the main quest line.

But Call of Duty is the best game ever.
Except the fact, Kotaku has been praising the game ever seen it has been announced. They point out flaws in the game and then everyone jumps the "THEY ARE TALKING TRASH ABOUT OUR GAME" wagon.
Everything said in the article is accurate with my opinion, I feel those points underwhelming. The game is still good but you know, I expected them to learn from their mistakes and improve?
You are awfully hostile towards people that have positive feelings about Skyrim, what gives? Did Skyrim run over your dog?
I commented on Kotaku's lack of integrity as a game review site, even citing an example. It wasn't "OMG THEY"RE TALKING ABOUT THE PRECIOUS!" I give that website all the credibility of a caffeinated teenager.
Screw your hundreds of hours of gameplay and playability, I want HAIR! lol
Same person who wrote the flaws article. Also, I do not hate the game, I even said I'll most likely play it. I had high hopes but I put an high value in the combat gameplay and this game barely improved from oblivion's.
You totally ignored every point and went toward the "weakest" one making fun of it. You know that's what Apple fanboys do? =/
Wow, dude, you're reaching. Don't worry, the game is out now, the hype will die down, you'll stop hearing about it soon enough.
I think it'll be a rent for me, unless the story is down right amazing.
Yes, I am bashing and hating on it really hard.
I didn't say you were. I just said you were acting awfully hostile to those of us who are psyched about playing it. Doing things, like, quoting yourself, and making comparisons to Apple zombies.
To be fair have the elder scrolls ever been about the combat? I've only played morrowind and oblivion but to me they came off as almost strictly exploration and character building games with combat and story line playing only minor rolls in the game as a whole. Again this is just my opinion but bashing the games on combat/story is about the same as bashing an action or shooter game because they are not open world or non liniar.
I've yet to play the game, but I'm sure I'll be happy.
To me, a large part of enjoyment in games comes from the world, and Skyrim simply looks stunning. In past Elder Scrolls my goals have always been to walk around in the wilds, seeing everything I can get my grubby little paws on(or eyes rather).

That's pretty much what I'm doing now, just wandering around, I'm doing quests in a general way but I spend more time stealing ***from houses and looking for books. Like when one of the very beginning quests took me to my second town, I ended up spending an hour or more going through everyone's houses and ***.
Speaking of stealing stuff is there a way to get rid of the 'stolen' tag on stolen items?

I really wouldn't know, but if it's like Oblivion I believe some venders will buy them, also I believe the Thieves guild will as well.

I always thought that was really weird. In Morrowind it made sense that the shop keeper would recognize their own stuff... in Oblivion it seems they are all creepy super stalkers who know who every item belongs to XD
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
