I better call up Best Buy and other stores of the like to see which will be participating in extended hours for midnight release.
I'm boycotting Gamestop for rather obvious reasons.
"We’ve received several tips saying that Skyrim is available for download now on torrents, and what’s more important, it’s playable. This means that anybody with a cracked Xbox 360 can now play the single-player campaign of this much-anticipated game that will definitely make your gamer life a whole lot better."
One guy used a dragon shout to gain a speed boost (Whirlwind Sprint?), launching himself forward on a slightly ridged surface.
Immediately upon touching the ground, he instantly died.
One really cool scene I noticed was that the player stumbled upon a handful of hunters fighting a giant. The player ran up and looted the corpse, and was then confronted by the hunters. They actually called him out on that.

There are no other options than Gamestop here. But I've known a local GM for many, many, many years and he's shown me all the tricks of the trade to playing Gamestops system. I get plenty of discounts, freebies and preferential treatment so I wouldn't dare try something like a big box store such as lolBest Buy

I understand, it's just I've had countless bad experiences with Game Stop and my biggest pet peeve is getting gutted games at "new" price, and being stuck with their poor business ethics.

I agree. Newer used games that don't have all the original packing (case, guide booklet, etc etc) should be sold at a discount comparative to one that looks just like new. I also think there should be less discrepancy between used trade in and used sell prices, but the same could be said about the motor vehicle market. I try to buy used on anything I'm questionative about so I can utilize the 7 day return policy.
I'm in a weird place with Elder Scrolls games just because I hated Morrowind, and for the relatively dumb reason that I just have a thing against dark elves.
I find them cliche, min/max'd DND basement-dwelling Drizzt-worshipping angst-ridden over-powered absurdities, and instantly tune out if I'm required to play one or become immersed in their world. And that ire extends to the general art direction that tends to be around them, including bizarre mushroom forests and "edgy" dark color pallets.
My hatred is utterly irrational, and I know it. But it is what it is.
So... I really loved Oblivion. I found the environments lush and beautiful, the cities interesting, etc. My only gripe was that I out-leveled 75% of the world's content before I could get to it, the faces were bizarre, and the main story was a bit weak. The actual Oblivion portals got to be pretty repetitive and uninteresting after the 5th or 6th run-through as well.
Skyrim promises to be an environment that caters to my quirky aesthetic sense but with a lot of Oblivion's downsides improved. So it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say I've been literally counting down the days to its release for a good three months now, along with just about everyone who works for me. I would not be surprised if 30+ people come down with a mysterious illness on or near November 11th.
My only worry is that Elder Scrolls games (and indeed Fallout as well) cater to folks that like to replay over and over with different character types and combos in order to experience all the content. I'm the opposite personality type: I like to pick one class, one character, and experience everything with him. Which means I typically out-level and miss a good chunk of the extra content. I hope they've gotten around this somehow.

Everyone is comparing this to Oblivion... I realize this was the most similar in context, but wasn't Fallout3 & New Vegas a bit more recent? Clearly these games kicked ***! Nothing repetitious etc.
Fallout 3 is one of the most fun solo RPG i've ever played, so I am eagerly awaiting Skryim
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
