I think the best wtf AI moment I've had in skyrim to date, an assassin ran up to me, but I used the nocturnal invisible power, stole his contract and ran off. It was signed thief. At this point I got a little confused as I couldn't figure out what thief I didn't kill. Fast traveling to morthal to do thane quest there, I had a group of hired thugs attack me. Their orders were signed by the assassin that I pickpocketed and ran away from atleast 2 days prior... To this day I still think that thief and assassin have teamed up and are going to spring an epic random encounter trap in my characters near future.
I myself play the game in a fairly unique way too, (well I think it's unique xD). I'm still on my first character, he's a "do all the things" type. Where I use smithing, enchanting, alchemy gear/potions to make my battle armor and potions and do all guilds, working on doing every side-quest possible in the game, etc. I myself am level 67 where basically nothing can kill me, even Alduin (first fight) only took my health down by maybe a 1/10th of my max and he "died" in around 6 or 7 hits of my sword. Was it a challenge? No. But it was still fun for it is my first play through, I still don't know the story or what's going to happen next. I myself have no problem being a "god" on this character, after all, you are Dovahkiin! You're the the baddest bad *** in all of Skyrim, able to slay any dragon and STEAL IT'S SOUL! You tell me if that doesn't sound like you might supposed to become a god among men, in a sense. You're even the first one in over 500 years or so (I forget the exact). Live the legend I say. :P
I agree with this. I'm level 40 at this point, done a bunch of dungeon looting and side questing (halfway through thieves and mages, done a few 'help tasks'), but barely into the main story.
I'm just about to finish Smithing and am 15 lv away from Enchanting. At this point, I'm going to double enchant some Dragon armor, make myself not a "god" by being completely immune to damage, but somewhat close. I will enchant decent stuff on my well leveled weapons and call it a day. I feel that it does follow the story to be this powered by this point in the game. I can't just go around acting a fool, but with a bit of strategy, I should be able to murder anything I run into. Feels good, man.
Godmode isn't so appealing to everyone. It has its perks, but I find that I lose interest in a game very quickly after I reach that point. As such, I try and avoid early godmode because it's led to me dropping a game prior to finishing it on more than one occasion. Playing around with it later can be a nice reward for the effort you put in along the way along with the sense of gratification you get when you surmount an actual challenge.
Curious as to how much can legitimately get accomplished with the whole Pacifist method. You can get some pretty effective turn undead and fear/calm illusion spells, maybe even using fury to your advantage of turning enemies against each other, but is the main quest even obtainable through such a method?
Either way, I'd love to try out the unarmed badass method too. I'd imagine taking down dragons would be a pain until you get the shout to make them come down.
Okay, this is annoying me, but has anyone noticed that mobs of any kind seem to randomly and downright perfectly sidestep when arrows are shot at them from your bow? And I don't mean walk to the side in a timely manner, but literally slide in the most ridiculous manner, perfectly on time to dodge your arrow, even under circumstances such as being hidden and undetected? It's really starting to piss me off D:

I've noticed them doing that "perfect dodge" when they've spotted me and we're firing at each other but never when I'm hidden and undetected. A lot of times it seems they do that perfect dodge if you shoot within a time frame that encompasses their shot. So I usually wait for them to shoot, they sidestep, and as they are aiming their next arrow, I shoot.

I think Alduin would be a rough fight without direct damage, but the majority of the game can be accomplished via the pacifist route.
I have another character for you... Great Goron the amazing blacksmith.
You can use him to solely attempt to create the most game breaking weapons (and by extension enchantments), just as he repairs the Goron Sword to its full potential for Link.
Would be short lived, as burning through those two crafts doesn't take long, but you could get the 100,000g trophy (if you haven't already) and you'd have yet another Zelda character that is true to his history.

I noticed this happening some, too. They were sidestepping my magic often (I rarely use a bow anymore). To get around this, I either 1h cast a weak spell to get them to move, then quickly overcast what I really wanted too. Or, I wait for Lydia to shoot at them and have them try to strafe her, then I blow them up with massive fireballs.

Yeah it especially seems to happen when you have the slow time perks for me as soon as I release time seems to speed up and mobs warp out of the arrows flight path. If I hold the zoom and have enough stamina it happens much less.

I see this, and I'll do ya one better; I've lost count of the numbers of arrows I've seen just go completley through the mob and do no damage. My crosshair is aimed at their abdomen, to account for the arc of the arrow mid flight, and I just hear it clank off the wall or ground behind them. Very frustrating.
Had a really, really bad glitch happen the other day, but was thankfully only temporary. I'd go to shoot an arrow, and it would travel about 1 meter in front of me and hit the ground. No matter how long I had it drawn back, it would just flop off my bow and fall to the ground at my feet. This made being an archery assassin all kinds of interesting... Same glitch happened in Oblivion before too.
I've had 3 groups of hired thugs attack me over my 5 gold bounty in Markarth. 5 freaking gold pieces. 9 people have lost their lives for half of a piece of bread. Just thought it was odd.

I think Markarth is bugged lol, i had an issue some pages back where i had no bounty or anything and got attacked everytime i entered there. Have you done any of the main story involving Markarth yet?

I went to Markarth to get the rubbing/etching of the Falmer language for a Thieves guild quest. I stole nothing, I attacked no one, but you better believe I ran like a jack rabbit through the Museum and dodged guards pursuing me like a NFL running back. The 5 gold is for tresspassing, apparently.
In role-play terms, I could see someone wanting to rough me up for making the guards look stupid, but I don't think the AI in these games are quite to that level yet.

I notice this happening all the time when I shoot after releasing the slow time deal but not so much when just shooting normally. Also shooting at npcs in action (on alch tables etc) never works in my game. They always move off the table/forge when I shoot ._.
Just finally finished all the Daedric quests, it was a long hard decision but I decided to run around attempting to console every atlmer guard until I found one that shared voice files with someone who could be a follower. Talos worship was strictly forbidden, but boethiah is a-ok!
Glad it's not just me.
It seems mobs randomly dodge projectiles of sorts perfectly under various circumstances. Especially when detected/slow time.
Hopefully it'll be addressed in a patch eventually, but it can make for difficult moments, especially when sneaking.
Stupid bugs are pissing me off. Now my thieves guild quests are impossible to finish because the *** wouldn't leave the basement and I didn't realize it because I decided to continue with the main quest.
Just had my first real game-breaking glitch and I was forced to lose a character. HUGE glitch during the "House of horrors" quest in Markarth. Save your game outside the house before you enter for the first time.
So, I enter the house with the priest guy. House starts going crazy, but the priest just stands there and doesn't do anything. The front door was actually still unlocked, so I figured I'd maybe exit and enter again to see if that kick-starts it. I exit, and the whole world stays blurry and sepia-toned like in the house. Also, the bang and crashing noise, shaking screen effect persists. It stayed even when I fast traveled to other cities. Only way to get rid of it was to go back into the haunted house and kill the priest.
So I kill him, Molag Bal beckons me to the basement, and when I do his little dialogue part, THEN the front door locks. Permanently. So I have to decide whether it's worth it to play the game with the screen permanently miscolored and blurry, with crashing effcts, or be trapped in the house. Just hit level 40 too, finished thieves guild the night before.
I just hit 35 hours, 9500mb and I can't load my game at all on PS3. It happened just after I got a trophy for finding 100 areas. Out of me and my husband I seem to be the one getting all the glitches. So I make sure I laugh everytime he tries to ride his horse down a slight hill then dies.
Anyone else on PS3 get an issue where it loads forever and just endlessly gives you bits of advice/lore?
I hit the PS button, but then I got the little clock and eventually a fade to black... Music is still playing ;/
Yes. I believe it's somehow related to the autosave feature because I haven't had the issue since turning autosave off.
I turned off autosave at the start and I get the 'stuck on loading screen' problem. Now everytime I try to load my game it's pretty much stuck on this screen forever. Then I have to turn off the PS3 which makes the PS3 angry <.<
Can smith/enchant the ***out of stuff and still feel the pain with up to 32x the difficulty of master!
Ok I just got 1 shot by a Dragon in 29% smithing potion + full gear daedric on 32x lol................need to barrel roll better apparently....
Ninja edit
I've also found out a logical reason for the level 50 hard cap on literally everything in the game. Running DD on hard, while doing the solitude lighthouse mission, I noticed a dragon over solitude and said "Eh I'll deal with that after this mission." Three letters of inheritance later, I went to solitude to find it was pretty much a ghost town, essential NPC's were all hiding in doors, guards were 100% dead and not respawning and any npc that is normally outside was dead literally where it stood. Reloaded, saved the day, and went about my business.
Guards seem to spawn at level 50 regardless of your level. Even on a quick made lv1 char, city guards were throwing Lv: 50 to getlevel in console. I guess it could be considered too much to make the guards level with you (so they can defend against a dragon without you there) so all dragons (ie: mobs that can attack cities) cap at the same level. Basically I think this is an example of finding a short cut that was put into the game to avoid larger, longer coding... of city guards AI.
However, it would appear that the AI of the guards is growing, evolving if you will, and becoming aware of their environment. Or atleast this guard is:
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
