i did the quest but lydia was dead lol and when i went to get the ring i dont even remember what it eventually led to but it seemed like it was intertwined with the a night to remember quest...

Should be able to start over again and ask for forgiveness and start over after completing the night to remember quest which is funny as hell.
I couldn't care less about where the housecarl or anyone else sleeps lol. I just like the layout of the house and the placement of stuff in the town better. Could help that Windhelm is ugly, destroyed (I joined the Legion), and I get lost in it. xD

I for one for the price every inch of the house should be the BLLEEEEPPPP in many ways the windhelm house armory makes me want that house fo sure. Even more since I can't have it and own all the other homes lol...
I think you should be able to rent out your other homes to other people after a short quest or something. The housecarl that stays there could protect them as well for some, what would be, sometimes interesting dialogue.
I wish there was a menu list of magical effects you've already disenchanted so I don't have to lug around heavy magic gear wondering if I disenchanted it already or not >____>

yea really, im always like "do i have the enchantment thats on this battleaxe? do i have the enchantment thats on this 45w heavy armor?"
oh btw, my mannequins in hjerim are glitched =/ i tried putting my stormcloak officer set and tullius's armor on them, and when i first put them on, they just made the mannequins invisible from the neck down. then i zoned out and in and all but the officer hat displayed, but tullius's armor still didnt =(
Killed Balbus and took his Daedric Heart, and found another one under Anise's Cabin.
The Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon has 4 respawning (every 7 days, might be 2 though, inside) Daedras you can kill for hearts and Enthir in the College sells 2 and restocks every 2 days lol

All of them have this issue add all your armor you want displayed and exit then add a ring and exit they should appear and you can take the ring back I believe lol.
Use the secret chest in dawnstar, usually has a good amount of ebony in it. Take ingots > wait 48 hrs > run to kajit caravan > ask what they have for sale > reloot chest > repeat. Next to infinite supply of a lot of good smithing and alchemy ingredients...plus it usually has about 1k-1.5k gold in physical gold + about 10k in sellables (level dependant).
If you're hunting daedra hearts, besides the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon, there is a section in Labyrinthian called Shalidor's Maze that usually contains Dremora as well as Atronachs. I've had them respawn once the "Cleared" tag is removed from the place, but not every time.
Also for those of you hunting Ebony Ingots, here are a few places you can mine for Ebony Ore almost exclusively.
so i decided to play my archer/assassin char tonight, which i had just created the other night and was still level 1. so i decided im gonna do the companions quest with farkas (i cant resist dat disease immunity).
so i get there and go in and expect it to be like usual since ive done it 2-3 times before.....
2 hours later i finish at level 5 @.@ though i was pretty boss at sneak attacking the draugr and silverhand through most of it
lol lost goat inside the trading company
last one is my personal fave... "Death to the stormcloaks!" while the stormcloak next to me has a silly grin on his face...
Okay so I was just on my way out of Markarth and had a dragon attack, yeah that happens but all of a sudden outta left field the ENTIRE COMPANION CAST shows up out of the blue. As weird as that was it was only made stranger because I had taken one of them earlier as a follower and killed him so I could power up the Ebony Blade. He was stuck in a dead pose, half in the ground but ran up as though he was fighting the dragon. I even talked to him and asked him to follow me and he accepted! Now I have a (un?)dead follower I guess. Weird.
Long after I was named the new Harbinger, I exited the living quarters one day and found Skjor just walking around like nothing happened. This guys was dead; I looted his corpse, spent half the storyline avenging him, and now he won't even engage in conversation with me. Just calls me welp.
I bought all the upgrades and didn't have the housecarl yet either, Iro.
Also, I think Proudspire Manor is better anyway, although Hjerim does have more actual "display" places.
I prefer Hjerim over Proudsprire Manor. I was really disappointed with Proudspire after dropping almost 40k on it and finding it so claustrophobic and cluttered. One container in the basement enchanting/alchemy area? WTF?
Hjerim doesn't have as many floors, but I find the openness of it much more comfortable, and the nice selection of displays/plaques/mannequins makes it a perfect armory compared to the storage closet Proudspire Manor calls a basement.
But for pure functionality, I like the house in Markarth best so far. It's small, but containers are just where you need them, so it's like a nice little workshop. Now if only the nearest forge wasn't across town...

Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
