anyone play a heavy armor char and use some minor magic uses? I mainly use alteration and upper tier spells cost alot, and wondering if anyone who plays like this has but any upgrades into mp ( i have done none so far). Yes i know there are the perks to do half magicka but still wondering if bumping up mp is useful and if so how much
Can also enchant the cost to 0% or extremely close to it. Can also enchant mp recover. Find whats reasonable to you so you dont break your experience in the game.
according to playing in game the only way to make enhanced items is to destroy said item first to learn how to make it. unfortunately i have found no heavy armor with alteration magic abilities on it. unless is there another way?
Doesnt matter if its on heavy, light or robes, any thing with the enchantment works when you disenchant it. So if you disenchant from a circlet, you can enchant it on a heavy piece and vice versa.

mmm sounds hot. i got a nice robe that i an use then to put it on my armor. thanks a bunch ^^
Probably an epic fail question, but leveling a mage up now and curious what exactly the skills do for my spells. Destruction magic, mostly, but it applies to all of them. Does it reduce the Magicka cost, up the damage (or amount healed, etc), or a bit of both?
For all magic the primary result in increasing your magic skill is decreasing the cost used to cast them.
Thanks Kal :D Must not be by a whole bunch, raised up my Destruction magic about 10 levels, dualcasting stuff like Fireball and Chain Lightning still ruins my Magicka pool. Seems like dualcasting takes more than just 2x the Magicka cost, anyone else notice that?

Also worth noting Terasan, that if you wish to enhance the potency/damage of your destruction spells, the only thing to improve that is potions. Though with current exploits and stacked enhancing skills to alchemy and further to enhancing then further to alchemy can give you overwhelming power to the point of being severely OP.
Ok so, I've gotten Smithing, Enchanting, and Alchemy to 100 with all relevant perks, and I started enchanting four pieces of armor with both Enhanced Smithing and Enhanced Alchemy. First batch of armor gave me 25% improvement, so I went over to the Alchemy table and made an Enchanting Potion (forget how much it gave % wise). Then I went back over to the Enchanting table, used potion and made more armor, this time with 28% improvement. I kept doing this about three more times, and I can't seem to get any armor with more than 29% improvement to smithing and alchemy. When wearing this armor and making Smithing Potions, they come out to be 130% improvement. So my question is, is 29% on gear and 130% on potions the max you can get?
Also, how the hell do you get your wife to sleep in the same bed as you for that bonus (name escapes me)? Finally got to where I could marry Muiri (assistant inside "The Hags Curse", seemed most beneficial of all the people you can marry), had her move into Proudspire Manor, and I swear the dumb *** never goes to bed.
Yeah, I'm probably gonna stick with some "mediocre" effects on that, none of the cycling you need to do the absolutely OP stuff. Might keep some Destruction and Restoration potions on me, as I actually enjoy Alchemy (hated it in Oblivion, some stuff was hard as hell to come by).
Now if only I could get the game to quit with the silent crashes. Wish I could use that LAA patch, but Bethesda kinda nixed that one real quick. ; ;
Thanks for the hints, though, I've always played warrior or spellsword types, so I'm not too familiar with the higher-level mage archetypes.
Using Alchemy, Enchanting, and Smithing the player can create very powerful weapons and armor.
This process can be used to progressively enhance each skill to a certain point, beyond which it is not normally possible to go without exploiting the use of a game bug(described at the end). It is assumed that the player has 100 in each skill with the relavent perks: 5/5 Enchanter, Insightful Enchanter, Alchemist 5/5, Benefactor, and the smithing perk for your chosen armor and weapon types.
To begin the process craft a set of Fortify Alchemy gear. This should result in four items that each boost your Alchemy skill by 25%.
Then craft several potions of Fortify Enchanting. These potions should enhance your enchanting skill by 30%
Use those potions to craft a new set of Fortify Alchemy gear. This set have a boost of 28% on each piece.
Using this new set, create new Fortify Enchanting potions. These potions should have a boost of 32% on them. NOTE: This is the strongest Fortify Enchanting potion that can be brewed without exploiting.
Next use these potions to create a set of equipment with Fortify Alchemy & Fortify Smithing both boosted to +29% per piece. This comes out to a total boost of +116% for each skill.
To finish this process off, use the set of Alchemy boosting gear to create some Fortify Smithing potions. These potions should have a boost of +130% on them.
Now that the player is prepared, one can enchant a choosen set of armor and weapons using the Fortify Enchanting Potions. Then wear the Fortify Smithing equipment that was made in step 5, and drink a Fortify Smithing potion made from step 6. The player can now use a workbench or grindstone to enhance their chosen equipment to the best possible level.
It is possible to wear a Falmer Helmet or a Cowl on top of Circlets and Dragon Priest Masks. This has been tested to be working on both the PC and PS3 versions of the game as of version 1.2. Using this glitch it is possible to enchant both a circlet and a Falmer Helmet with a +29% boost to Alchemy in step 5 above.
This allows for the creating of +37% Fortify Enchanting and +147% Fortify Smithing potions. Note that using one of these stronger potions will not allow for the player to enchant stronger than +29% to Alchemy or Smithing. The potions can be used for enhancing other Enchantments though, for example Fortify Sneak goes from +47% to +48%. The smithing potion will allow for additional armor or damage gains at a workbench or grindstone.
Ok so only part I didn't figure out was you can wear both a circlet and certain helmets/masks. Oh well, I used the 130% smithing potion to upgrade my dragonbone armor set and well... I'm way beyond the damage cap, think my armor rating is around 986 or so. Anyway, I really wasn't trying to make super super OP armor, I was just messing around with it and got curious if I could do it over to make the previous stronger. O well, I kinda like having the strength and powers of a God.
One more question, the Fortify Blocking enchantment that increases how much damage you block. Does that factor in to the 82% (I think) damage reduction cap, or is it completely separate? Right now I have two pieces of gear with about 43% (on each piece) extra damage blocked by shields.

2 things:
1: 667 is defense cap. PC, 567 displayed(+100 with all gear pieces on <-- invisible part).
2: You can further upgrade your armor/weapons again provided you have higher skill(ie using a 147% potion + the rest of your buffs).
This will save you the amount of perks you need to use next time around along with any un-needed enchantments.

Yah I knew I was way beyond the cap, just wasn't sure what the cap really was. Thanks for the exact amount. I got that you can do it again for a better potion using the two headpieces trick but there doesn't seem to be a point outside making your weapons stronger, I already kill elder dragons in two or three hits, sometimes one with the animation kill right away. Hell, my shield bash will sometimes take out 1/4th of the Elder Dragons health.
The special kill animations, are they completely random or are they executed by certain button combination's revolving around power attacks and directions? It seems I do them a lot when I'm strafing and/or pressing power attack and block at same time (kill animation is smacking em with the shield and shoving my sword into their gut and ripping it out while hitting them in the neck with my shield). Could just be total coincidence though.
Kill animations are more or less random and have various chances of execution, likely based on a base percentage with variables depending likely on enemy health and/or your stamina.
Sadly, I wish they added some to magic and archery.
Though I suppose the Fire Flee, Paralyze Ice and Disintegrate Shock perks make up for the magic part at least.
I still want a bullet time kill animation for bow and arrow though.
Perhaps it could be conditional on headshots or something.
Archery kill animation... slow motion arrow entering the eyeball, or when the enemy is close (if they are), grabbing an arrow and stabbing it into their forehead with your hand. PLEASE!

ewww D: I don't think I could be an archer if they did that (specifically lololol)

P.S.
Sorry for all the questions xD
The kill animations seem to be triggered by critical damage done in certain positions facing your opponent front, back and side. I am almost guaranteed to get one when sneaking attack from behind or sprinting toward an enemy in front and they are brutal as F lol. I haven't seen one when my victim was seated or laying down sadly they need to add those hehehe. Which one happens is random but mostly I can count on from behind the throat slit with sword or a run in decap from the front brutally awesome. Also the weapon ur using determines what type of brutal kill you will see as well. I need to play with different weapons to see them all lol. Now if only they add a instant replay and screen capture function lol.

You don't have to find heavy armor with alteration magic on it (although you get a beast dwarven mail with it from some quest [forgot which]), you just need anything that has fortify alteration. Once you've destroyed that piece, you can put that type of enchantment on any gear.

I pretty much am the sneakiest heavy plate wearing, magic abusing user ever lol. Nothing like having a demora lord, Lydia, and the spectral assassin running interference for me while I decide bow or sword or magic kill. I love the aspect of being able to have the versatility to switch roles in a blink. As Lydia keeps asking me are you a priest? My thoughts are how many priest wear heavy armor and pretty much chops off peeps heads for phat loot lol...
Is this normal? I was in Riverwood doing some random quest and decided to stop by the blacksmithing forge or whatever to improve some of my weapons, and this girl walked up to the table and literally grew in size and started pounding some metal with a hammer.
Just keep playing and check your blacksmith shops every 2 days (game days) to see their updated stock. Also regular merchants that sell normal gear might have them, not sure.
Other than that I think it's not possible unless you find a piece laying around or in a chest.
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
