Simply upgrading them with combined skills is a bigger increase than x4 enchanted weapon armors could ever hope to achieve.
Erm, beg to differ there buddy. 2.6x stronger than daggers with enchantments, somewhat more of a bonus than just the combined skills of the dagger. If dagger could make use of enchants, then they'd be stronger there as well.
You read that wrong, Im referring to with just smithing/enchant/alchemy combos to upgrade your weapon(any for that matter) is a higher increase to your weapons than any enchant x4 can muster.
So using enchants after that process, well kill your game unless you want to 1-shot everything including dragons.
I wasnt comparing a properly smithed dagger with an enchanted sword lol, like I said with enchantments, swords, but again "do you really need the enchantments??" Could put other useful things(like HP/Stamina/muffle/carryweight/stamina regen/hp regen/mp/mp regen/magic resists etc
Suppose, but the question was raw power not utility. Raw power favors swords. If you don't want to one shot everything and want more interesting weapons, obviously do something else other than straight damage enchants.

Yea I suppose aswell, but it seemed like Art was going to swap to swords if it wasnt ideal for him, which was entirely my reason to reassure him that daggers were more than fine if probably done.
If hes going to forgo the whole upgrading to high levels path, yea swords would probably be ideal with enchantments.
However, unenchanted daggers do sneak attacks of 5k....thats still monstrous for unenchanted weapons. 3200-3100 is Ancient Dragon HP, more than enough(Although I dont know how attack vs mob defense works out to be, if that even exists)
Anyone else pimping out they partners in crime? I have Lydia kicking the ***out of mobs with her aptly named Lydia's Daedric Axe of vengeance (Legendary) enchanted with paralyze and absorb health it's pretty sweet to watch her not just be canon fodder. Took her into the companions back room and turned around and she had had killed like three of the recruits lol. Haven't decided if I should make her a full set of daedric armor or not she currently wears my ebony set and has a Daedric bow that insane as well....
Most fun I had playing a game in awhile with a home in whiterun and the pimp manor in solitude and two women who will do anything I ask what more could I want lol....
My companion, who I also married, is the house-carl from solitude. Me and her are both decked out in the light dragon armor because we are sneaky like that. She also has a Deadric Sword with Fire and frost enchanted on it and shield with stuff on it. And her armor is fully enchanted also.
That corpse glitch work with any other magic skill? >;o
I think it's just Soul Trap. Haven't tried with anything else though.
I just wanna say thanks for letting me know about this. This is the best thing that happened to me so far in the game. O.O Getting me my needed levels to get out of noobdom while struggling with all the other magic types.
Is there a quick way of getting the paralyze mod? I've never seen it in a shop.
I've not seen it either, been dying for it on bows and junk. Does it show up 100% anywhere like the Gloves of the Pugilist in the riften sewer? (Still planning that monk run!)

Not that I know of, aside from just going from weapon sellers over and over, Ive only seen 1 in my (many many) town hops and it was during a previous save working out how weapon skill/smithing function. So I couldnt keep it :/
It was from the smith's in Whiterun if that helps.

tbh ive only found 2 weapons, one in random loot, and another in a random encounter. some thief said hey hold onto this mace of stunning, then a bounty hunter came by lookin for him, pointed out the thief and kept the mace
Not sure why, but I'm totally obsessed with the whole Civil War background story and how each one is laid out through the game.
Frankly, I'm a bit indecisive on which side to join as both seem to have ulterior and selfish personal motivations more so than "fighting for their people" or "preserving peace".
What side have you guys joined, and what have you discovered?
Feel free to spill the beans, just be sure to spoiler it.
I get so annoyed when I sneak attack crit with bow(D70 with +50% bow enchantments) and it only does 20% of a mobs health.. then I have to back peddle shoot another 6 shots to kill them.
I need to start bringing Lydia with me again now that the thieves guild quest is over. I have her decked out in Epic dwarf armor. I think I'll make her an Ebony set.
On my assassin I went with Stormcloaks.
On my Mage and Ranger Imperial because I think the nords are a bunch of *** to elves.
I haven't actually done any of the quests yet. I'll prolly start them tomorrow.

You do know that the elves are the *** of the world right?
Their dominion nearly destroyed the Empire and all of Hammerfell too.
Their agenda is almost akin to Nazism.
Although the Empire merely signed a peace treaty with them to avoid absolute destruction. A better way to put it would be "terms of surrender".
So far the nords do not like the classes/races I play. They hate mages, and elves. My mage is an elf, and both my assassin and ranger are elf.
Now days when I see Stormcloak npcs I murder them for how they treat my characters. (Except for the assassin as he is loyal to them just to see their storyline. He slits the throats of imperials though all the nord npcs still treat him like guttertrash)
Yeah the Nords are just as nationalistic and xenophobic as the Altmer, the only difference is they wish to keep independence of their own province while the Elves and Aldmeri Dominion have a much more conquest oriented agenda. It seems their agenda is to purge the world of every other race but their own and rid the empire and take their place.
It might sound silly but I'm trying to figure out which seems most fitting to join based on my character name trend of Zelda characters xD
I only got one save file so far, and I went with the Imperials.
This was chosen mainly on the fact that Stormcloaks are bitterly racist and I'm Khajiit, and at a certain point in the main story, a peaceful talk turned into Ulfric demanding crap, that and Ulfric claims using his shout to knock down a guy, and then stabbing him while he was on his knees getting back up was a fair fight.
All Imperials ever did to me was try to behead me, I mean, no where near as bad.

Sounds like you get the short end of the stick no matter what faction you join.
Cut your head off!--oops that was a mistake.
Fight for freedom!--I just want to be king.

What I really wanna do is end the Thalmor, they're the whole cause of all this, and they're entirely stuck up, and almost as racist as the Stormcloaks.
Talking to many imperials, it's implied that many secretly still worship Talos, and it's implied in a quest that the High King did as well. The Imperials signed the Talos worship to be banned to keep a powerful ally while they were on the verge of dying out. Once they're back in control, I can see them fighting back against the Thalmor to bring back Talos worship, after all, the Empire was built by Septim blood, and is sort of blasphemy in a way to turn their backs on him.
If I ever make a character to join Stormcloaks, it would have to be a Nord character, no other race makes sense joining them in my view

Yeah. I can understand both views. The Nords have the right to stand up to forced oppression, even if it is enforced by a former ally. Many would rightfully see the Empire as a puppet or tool of the Thalmor, especially since the treaty is so strongly favoring the Aldmeri Dominion, with both the ban on the worship of Talos and cession from Hammerfell (their greatest ally against the Thalmor armies).
Yet at the same time, it's within everyone's interest to retain even a remote sense of peace from the treaty rather than creating unnecessary bloodshed, especially among their own kind with an insurgency.
i know its barely 2 weeks since launch but i can see the next game based around a second clash between thalmor and empire. or they might even toss that out the window and finally actually show us akavir. course thats years and expansion packs away though.
This might sound a bit "cheap" but there's plenty of exploits to go around, and this seems like the least of them all; but I noticed if you reload at certain points where you would obtain good loot from chests and whatnot, the random pool seems to change, as long as you load before a certain point where that pool is predetermined. Anyone know how to do this in a more timely manner or what "points" are the breaking point determining what gear you will get from a chest or loot off a body?
Bethesda Softworks just announced the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be called Skyrim. And it'll be out next year.
Bethesda's Todd Howard introduced the game with a brief teaser showing a stone dragon and a dramatic narration that sets up the story of the next big role-playing game in the Elder Scrolls series. That teaser also dates Skyrim for November 11, 2011.
I cannot bloody wait. I've always loved the Elder scrolls series since Daggerfall.
