Hello,
I recently installed FFXIV and got a new monitor which allows me to play 1920x1080.

The game didnt flicker yesterday but today it started to flicker. I tried upgrade/downgrade drivers, reinstall the game and windows.

Tried lower the resolution and other graphics settings for the game.

My system contains:
Intel Core i7 950 @ 3.1 ghz (4 cores)
6GB DDR3
Radeon HD 6850 1GB

I was thinking of upgrading to GTX 460 1GB but idk if it would fix this issue. Its only on XIV i get this flicker.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have had this problem with other games, if you play in windowed mode it should solve the problem, but I dont no the fix for stopping the flickering in full screen mode.

I had that problem in full screen mode when i didn't have vertical sync checked in my video card settings. Could try that if you haven't already.

The problem is during window mode as well.
Tried using the resolution SE suggest, which is 1280x720 Windowed.
The game goes smoothly but the flicker remains.

I'll see if I got a setting for V. Sync in ATI Catalyst.

is it flickering or artifacts? if you GPU Memory or CPU gets to warm (hot) it can start showing artifacts. Test it with a testing tool like:

- Aida 32
- Aida 64
- Lavalyst

You can check your manufacturer for the temperatures. Newer cards can hadle pritty high temperatures so...

Good luck!

P.S. V-sync option in ATI menu:

Click on Graphics and pick 3D.
Then scroll halfway down and you will see the V-sync option.

I guess it differs from software vesion but try that.

Going to look for it now. Thank you! And it isn't a temperature problem it's more of a screen starts showing some out of line bits as if they were lagging behind. But thanks again gonna try it

It is most likely your refresh rate - ATI has a tendancy to adjust this periodically (after Windows Uptates). A simple adjustment to match the factory settings ofthe monitor should correct any and all issues.
