Anyone else had problems with nvidia drivers lately?

Yesterday I got bluescreen, for the first time in years. Crash caused by nvlddmkm.sys. After starting up in safe mode and removing the nvidia drivers it started up just fine, but autoinstalled the bad file again, which again caused the computer to crash and bluescreen.

Booting up in fail safe mode with network connection and downgraded to older drivers didnt help either.

Eventually I switched GFX card from Nvidia 7900 GTX to Geforce 8600 GT (my brother had this laying around and was kind enough to bring it over at 2 am last night lol)

Booted up the computer and windows autoinstalled drivers (but now different drivers for this card) and everything works again.

I don't believe that there was a hardware problem, since the 7900 GTX worked fine as long as the drivers weren't installed, and because the crash file said there was a problem with nvlddmkm.sys.

Googeling some, it seems that when downloading and updating some Nvidia drivers, they simply dont update the nvlddmkm.sys that's located in system 32 folder, so the driver is trying to find a version of nvlddmkm.sys that doesnt exist.

Anyway, my problem is solved, was just curious if anyone else have had the same problem and how you solved it?

my old AGP system would BSOD running 7800GS all the time
downgraded to 7600GT and would run no issues after installing most current drivers from nvidia page for both cards

i would always try this card when i saw new drivers available and would always BSOD no matter what

was always a nvidia .dll file of some sorts, cant remember exactly

running SLI GTX465's in current system with no issues tho
