There is also the reason of social stereotype or popular thought process. Most straight men always go "ew" whenever gay is mentioned, or use it in a derogatory way. Large amount of women are the same way, it is just a societal norm to behave this way, or a popular way I should say. People do it just because a large majority of others do. Just like how in the old days sex was such a taboo subject, because everyone made it so.

If they want equality they should stop thinking they're special :/ Here's the problem.
Even if you don't realize it, we straight folks like to publicly celebrate our sexuality every chance we get. We don't just have in-your-face yearly festivals celebrating dudes throwing beads at chicks so they'll show us their boobs, we have an entire city who's entire existence is essentially a 365 day/year dedication to every depraved thing we can possibly imagine. (But! -- many of the laws saw -- only if you're straight.)
Our advertisements on television play it up at every opportunity, with big-breasted chicks selling beer, or shaving cream commercials featuring dudes spinning their Ferrari's into a crowd of adoring supermodels, or cheap spray-on cologne ads featuring geeks being chased down the street by rapacious Swedish nurses dressed in no hospital uniform I've ever had the personal privilege of seeing.
Gay folks have to put up with this 24 hours a day. The constant over-sexed messaging of straight people blaring our heterosexuality across every channel we can: television, radio, billboards, video games, internet forums, whatever. And they all just quietly tolerate it, despite having no interest. When was the last time you heard a gay guy *** about having to watch some dude kiss his fiance on a cheesy DeBeers commercial?
In exchange, some of them want to have a wild parade for themselves in San Francisco once a year. And people freak the *** out, saying they must think they're special.
They don't. They just want 1/365th of what the rest of us take for granted. I really don't see how this is relevant to the act of "coming out".
I don't disagree with you. I just think people would be surprised. Apparently all my friends already knew despite me not just telling them. When it was obvious it seemed to be a bigger burden off their back than mine. Wutevs tho~

Yes cause its common in our society. Which just further perpetuates the taboo subject of gay men/reason why people behave way they do.

Usually, when I hear someone accusing gay folks of thinking they're "special," it's a homophobe falling back on the politically correct soft-core bigotry of "I have no problem with gay people, they just shouldn't get 'special' rights." (When those 'special' rights are what the rest of us already enjoy.)
Sorry if I misidentified your sentiment. =)

Oh I am quite the pessimistic homosexual, yes, would be best not to confuse that haha.
I was discussing it with my boyfriend and we realized how bad gays we are. We have no idea if same-sex marriage is allowed here, for example.

It amazes me how many people have to say they arent racist, and then proceed to make sweeping generalizations about a race/sex/gay group.

Why am I not surprised? Religious extremists are going to be the downfall of humanity. That goes for any religion, I'm not pointing fingers at any one in particular. and people keep laughing at me when I say Religion is the root of all evil in the world
Religions are not the "root" of all evil... They're a part of our evolution. Perhaps a required step before we can move forward as a species. A dangerous one that may cause us to go extinct, sadly.
Although they're not the root of anything, organized religions, because of their totalitarian structure, often make a great tool for spreading and cultivating ignorance and therefore, hate.
Since most religions discourage people to put their beliefs into question, and because minds has been manipulated from birth into seeing doubt as a weakness rather than a strength, billions of humans lack the very basis of wisdom, they actually fear uncertainty and go as far as mock it.
Faith allows people who don't know all the answers to think that they do. It is usually not a choice you make, since you get labeled with is from the day you're born. A Christian child, a Muslim child, etc. Nonsense. Unless you're lucky enough to be confronted with many conflicting ideas as a teenager, and develop some critical thinking abilities by yourself, chances are you'll just spend the rest of your life, babbling logical fallacies one after another, thinking that whatever you don't agree with... is false.
Rather than coming out with catchy (but fallacious) sentences such as "the root of all evil" that will just piss people off, I recommend being humble about what you don't know, because obviously, no one knows everything. Information about how logical arguments are built and how fallacies can be countered will make more solid the understanding you have of everything you've ever learned. Knowing how to respond coherently to common fallacies (such as straw man arguments) is the most effective way to confront religious nonsense. Greek philosophers have figured most of this a long time ago but this vital knowledge, as free and available as it is, is not something you'll learn in church.

I think its insane to think that the loss of any human life signifies the end of the world. Human beings are the only species on this planet who not only live outside natural ecosystems, but attempt to bend said ecosystems to there liking and in doing so destroy countless "non-human" lives. Our death's won't spell the end of the world and its arrogant to think so. Hell the very idea that any life is sacred seems pretty ridiculous considering at a very base lvl every organism must consume something else to survive.
But on topic, if the situation in africa bothers you it doesnt solve anything to cluck about it in here. Most extreme case, you have a body.
Go there and do something about it. But there are more passive ways to get involved. Start organizations. Raise money. Set up "underground railroads" to smuggle Gays and lesbians out of africa.
If ur not willing to do anything about it then it honestly cant bother u that much. And if u can do something about it and don't... don't you share in the responsibility for letting it happen.

I'm glad my parents never forced religion on me. They wanted to wait until I was older and could make a informed decision on what to believe in, if anything.

I'm not saying that my parents did not inforce things, because they do/ did. I'm just saying when it comes to religion they are not forceful. They believe that I should be allowed to think what I want, and not be fed something just because it's what they believe. The basic guidelines are there just with forcing me into something that should be up to me over all.

I read the comments on that website (the link of the original op) there is actually people that post "STOP BEING GAY AND YOU ARE OUT OF PROBLEMS" rly? where is the stop button, it's not a damn choice no1 wants to be the most discriminated or having fear of getting killed while you walk anywhere , neither a condition..it's not disease, people needs to get educated before posting ignorant comments, i have been gay since i was very child? in second grade? or less, if i remember i never looked at girls with other eyes than friends ,
man always looked more beautiful to me since i was a child , but of course it's with innocency it's not like you can think or know about about sex when your a lil kid, but my point is that you just can't turn gay instantly or choose in a matter of minutes to like men or woman, some ignorant people category us as pervs but they don't know that most violators/child molesters are not from the gay community , that have been studied and polled? is the right word? my english is not good, however being a transgender is a choice, you choose to alter your body parts, however they are still gay

I would like to clarify something...
There is no such thing as a bi-sexual MALE. Once a man takes it up the ***, sucks on another man's stick, or puts his stick in another man's ***, he is automatically homosexual.

Hey how would you jolly, flaming fruits feel if America did some shit like this?
Uganda Newspaper publishes "gay list", calls for their hanging.
Quote: Earlier this month, Rolling Stone newspaper -- not affiliated with the U.S. magazine with the same name -- featured 100 pictures of Uganda's gays and lesbians. Next to the list was a yellow strip with the words "hang them."
