I have this weird and annoying shadow difference in my game, the top is darker than the bottom. No matter what time ingame, how i rotate my camera. there is always this difference which can actually be seen very clearly as a line that seperates the two. i made pictures to show it.

anyone knows what this is?

If you mean that brown long strip in front of you, that's not a shadow.

It looks like something separating the floor and if you look at the railing there you can see it too. Trees aren't infinitely long you know. It's so that it won't make a gap in the floor.

I KNOW THIS ONE

its your pass through layer, your vid card is dumping memory and getting stuck on a pass, so its out putting it instead of reprocessing.

And Drac he is talking about that horzontal shadow line on the floor, not the brown tile sperator.

Although after looking at your pic a second time, you will notice its actually one HUGE shadow, Evil. there is another parallel shadow line at the very top. I would need to see you at another angle to determine if that is supposed to be there or not.

I got a better (more hilarious) one.

Ooh that. Wasn't as obvious as Catnip's pic. The arrow was misleading for me, didn't realize the diagonal red line was for the shadow.

Edit: Still doesn't look the same to me. It looks more like it's meant to be there.

only thing i can suggest is maybe run a diagnostics within your vid. display properties... or if you dont want the hastle just buy a new vid card... and see if it changes anything.. if it doesnt it could be your monitor too.. maybe check to see with other games idk if you would get the same results with ffxi, but with full shadow and weather on, its possible to use this as a reference too

Not entirely sure, would need to see a video, but it might be the level of detail render. The Highest detail is always rendered in very close proximity, if you have a fairly good eye, you will see a very clear "Line" where the detail (Including lighting and shadow) will degrade in quality.

The diagonal shadow is a bug in the client's ambient occlusion code. I've seen it mostly on higher end ATI cards. It's apparently been there since alpha.
