lol at that. necroquote sry. but that just made me lol. made my master end of the summer semester and our professor came in shocked in awe by the macbook pro's 5 ppl had. he always stopped short during his class to make refernces how about a mac can not do this and that. and he is right. the only godforsaken reson you should byu a mac: your are HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE and don't know where to put your money so you set your score into a firm that trys to tell everyone how Computers have to look.
by the way apple products look awesome but it doesnt hide the fact that you can not tell the mac with a specific programm to use 40% of his first cpu (out of 4 or more) to render the top left corner in a program (may it be 3d programs or whatever you have to render). there is NO program for that. Macs are awesome to work at but as it comes to certain points they suck. bad. baaaaaaaaaaad

mac people should be used more in the military. people with such great personalities would surely disturb the direction a bullet flies and suck it in with their sheer unmeasurable feeling of brain-masturbation. thousands of lifes... meh, even millions could be saved. Sign up mac folks it's time to get dirty!

i worked on a mac for 3 years. it's not that i hate macs actually i like them but saying: "get a mac" as an answer to the question: soo what "do i get instead of a mac?!"
is simpleminded and absolutely showing your route of measuring other values in electronics compared to apple. if it comes to Form follows function there is NO OTHER big player comparable to apple. not one.
but i'd rather have an absolute ugly computer than a firm that tells me "this is how it works, and only this way"; ***. closing in your freedom of choices for your tools will eventually end with total domination of a certain brand in your everyday life... and then.... you are the minion.

we can say the same only that you hate mac by all the things you've said.

at the end of the day windows also tells you what to do, i don't see the point in your argument other than mac is ***.

i already told op the benefits of having one, its his choice what to pick now. ;p

i don't hate macs i just hate the damn attitude people tend to have when being asked: "what should i get? MAc or PC?" apple folks (and i am not meaning you. i don't know you) tend to turn into a trash-cult where they assimilate everyone that is tempting to get a new system.

and yes, OP has to decide. and i don't give a damn if he chooses mac or pc doesn't matter to me.
like i said: it's the attitude.

I don't think I'd be able to appropriately assist customers on an Apple Based product, if I have to assist apple customers maybe but I rarely see them. Way more Windows Users on the market.
So for work or play I prefer Windows.

I beg to differ Bootcamp is very efficient, I think a lot of people are butthurt mac can do the same as PC and much more.

I have explained a thousand times it's as efficient, if people still want to believe otherwise their problem, I am the one with the machine that does it pretty much all.

Oh I'm sorry, you must be the only correct person out the entire group of people with more computer knowledge than the both of us that did tests using both PC's and Mac's.

Saying a Mac is more efficient than a PC is just so laughably wrong I don't even know if you're simply trying to get a rise out of people or not.

Semantics. You generally say "Mac vs PC" when comparing systems.

Cough..PC means personal computer. This whole MAC - PC thing is a marking ploy started by apple to separate it's "culture" from IBM and Windows. Everything that isn't a server is a PC, be it running Mac, Windows, Unix. The difference between the two is the system architecture. Stop proliferating Steve Jobs's ego, he doesn't need your help.

I didn't know 14 could run in OSX....

-Addressing Topic-
It all depends on
A) What you are doing
B) what your personal preference is

if you want a laptop to both double in school work and gaming, you are probably better off getting a windows machine, unless you know all the fun OSX work arounds. (Most all games run on windows)

If you want a laptop specifically for school work, and you do alot of art or rendering or computational heavy stuff, hands down get a Mac. You get what you pay for, bottom line. You can run pretty much every educational software on a mac, and they have the best support team in the industry. You can get MS office, Maya, Adobe's full suit and the iSuite. that little thing is a powerhouse.

If you dont want to spend the money, or don't see its worth it, there are a ***ton of windows based machines. Now a days all the really shitty laptop makers have fallen away. Dell, Sony, Asus, Lenovo (IBM) all make quality products (i prefer Lenovo) so just find something in your price range. And for the love of god, dont buy from Bestbuy/Walmart/Circuit City UNLESS you can get a software package out of the deal (Sometimes you can haggle with them)

Also, don't listen to ANYONE who bashes and debases another hardware community. They are biased and usually have no clue what they are talking about.

EDIT - I totally forgot about Bootcamp. My apologies. Yes with bootcamp, you have the full functality of Mac and Windows in one. So really, no need to get a windows onry machine.

If you can afford it, get a Mac and try to get a deal to get 7 combo'd in.

you can run those programs in windows 7 as well, windows 7 is more faster than osx snow leopard (benchnmark results all over the internet)on top of that adobe programs works better on windows than macs, a lot of americans are just biased by apple's pretty and liar liar ads,

I have been doing grapahics design and web design/photo edit /3d in windows for years for much much less money than a mac and currently on my 700$ pc only (ati radeon 5770 quadcore)(those specs woth like 6k$ on apple's website if you compare their prices ), currently macs computer haves outdated low profile grapahics card for very expensive, you prolly need to buy the 3k$ mac do match the today's graphical needs, (thats if you heavy works with 3d renderings

it's ridiculious the price of a mac these days, they only offer you dualcores computers with outdated cards for 1.5+k$ check their website and compare, it does not worth it, you can do everything in windows with much options available, macs are only good for novice users that needs macs because it already comes with movie/website editors/templates and catchs less viruses because macs market share is low, but there is actually antivirus for osx, and games does not run so well in bootcamp, if you want all in one cheaper with full native gaming capabilities go for a windows laptop , lenovo or toshibas, sony,/ not dell or HP, can actually install osx on a PC as well with some tutorials that are all over google and youtube.

I saw that lol, A Mac with the equivalent of my specs was about... $2k lol. I spent like $700 building this PC.
