Laptop Advice, Mac Vs MS - Uni Related.

just depends on what you're studying. If you are a lolartist or some worthless major like that, go with a MAC.

Science, go with a PC.

lol at that. necroquote sry. but that just made me lol. made my master end of the summer semester and our professor came in shocked in awe by the macbook pro's 5 ppl had. he always stopped short during his class to make refernces how about a mac can not do this and that. and he is right. the only godforsaken reson you should byu a mac: your are HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE and don't know where to put your money so you set your score into a firm that trys to tell everyone how Computers have to look.
by the way apple products look awesome but it doesnt hide the fact that you can not tell the mac with a specific programm to use 40% of his first cpu (out of 4 or more) to render the top left corner in a program (may it be 3d programs or whatever you have to render). there is NO program for that. Macs are awesome to work at but as it comes to certain points they suck. bad. baaaaaaaaaaad

I beg to differ Bootcamp is very efficient, I think a lot of people are butthurt mac can do the same as PC and much more.

I have explained a thousand times it's as efficient, if people still want to believe otherwise their problem, I am the one with the machine that does it pretty much all.

Oh I'm sorry, you must be the only correct person out the entire group of people with more computer knowledge than the both of us that did tests using both PC's and Mac's.

Saying a Mac is more efficient than a PC is just so laughably wrong I don't even know if you're simply trying to get a rise out of people or not.

Cough..PC means personal computer. This whole MAC - PC thing is a marking ploy started by apple to separate it's "culture" from IBM and Windows. Everything that isn't a server is a PC, be it running Mac, Windows, Unix. The difference between the two is the system architecture. Stop proliferating Steve Jobs's ego, he doesn't need your help.

A) What you are doing
B) what your personal preference is

if you want a laptop to both double in school work and gaming, you are probably better off getting a windows machine, unless you know all the fun OSX work arounds. (Most all games run on windows)

If you want a laptop specifically for school work, and you do alot of art or rendering or computational heavy stuff, hands down get a Mac. You get what you pay for, bottom line. You can run pretty much every educational software on a mac, and they have the best support team in the industry. You can get MS office, Maya, Adobe's full suit and the iSuite. that little thing is a powerhouse.

If you dont want to spend the money, or don't see its worth it, there are a ***ton of windows based machines. Now a days all the really shitty laptop makers have fallen away. Dell, Sony, Asus, Lenovo (IBM) all make quality products (i prefer Lenovo) so just find something in your price range. And for the love of god, dont buy from Bestbuy/Walmart/Circuit City UNLESS you can get a software package out of the deal (Sometimes you can haggle with them)

Also, don't listen to ANYONE who bashes and debases another hardware community. They are biased and usually have no clue what they are talking about.

EDIT - I totally forgot about Bootcamp. My apologies. Yes with bootcamp, you have the full functality of Mac and Windows in one. So really, no need to get a windows onry machine.

If you can afford it, get a Mac and try to get a deal to get 7 combo'd in.
