You're going to have issue with a lot of games due to not having the hardware drivers to support it. You can download secondary 'homebrew' drivers but that's touch in its self.
I'd personally buy a PC, cheaper and can do more with less hassle. What if you already have a Mac?
Then you have a dead end piece of expensive ***unless you are into media? What if you are into the media?

I enjoy HP but I always do a clean install whenever I get a new PC.

I beg to differ Bootcamp is very efficient, I think a lot of people are butthurt mac can do the same as PC and much more.
I have explained a thousand times it's as efficient, if people still want to believe otherwise their problem, I am the one with the machine that does it pretty much all.

He was talking about hardware drives and the API support from embedded controllers, something bootcamp simply cannot do.
As far as a monster laptop. Dell XPS all the way baby! But they are big heavy expensive pieces of machinery.

But hey I've just been working in the field for 4+ years, I don't know anything lol.

the drivers? lol you can install the drivers with your OSX install CD that has them all, windows is smart enough to recognize them and install the correct ones for the apple.
It's the same ***as Windows. =D
and I was still explaining that regardless apple can run windows 7 efficiently lol boot camp just partitions your HD nothing more.

But that's just for how I use computers, guess if you for some reason like how Mac looks and want to restart your PC to boot into windows whenever you want to play a video game feel free.

I once considered a MAC purely for video editing and whatnot.

2200$ and you get a graphic card that was badass, 10 years ago.
But then I changed my mind.

I only use win7 to toy around whenever I have some free time, I haven't booted on windows since I installed it.
It's for gaming sure but I don't game that often anymore.

There are several different types of drivers. We are referencing the API calls to the system architecture, not just software emulation. Sure bootcamp is capable of providing a platform to replicate those calls, however its not as stable nor efficient as the original system system architecture. Do you know the difference between an apple pc and a windows based pc?
Im not saying mac can't do everything windows can do. it just can't do *windows onry* things as well as windows can.

If I pay $2k for a machine, I expect it to clean my car too. The last thing I want to do is upgrade it further and spend even more money.

just like windows can't do mac only things, same story.
but it can pretty much do all, like run games which is all mac is missing lol for me that is.
I just keep hearing 'windows is unstable' blahblahblah
not true.

i got it because it fit all my needs.
people who buy items because they are overpriced have a mindset that whatever costs more is better.

No that's not what you are hearing at all. And no, the reverse is not its not the same thing. No one said "unstable" said, not as efficient for certain processes. But you are correct, Bootcamp handles most every base that the casual user would need.
Windows Server has a hard time getting its drivers to work for example.
For most everyone though, bootcamp is a great platform to get the best of both worlds.

yes send right away!
I ordered one the other day on amazon, its like $5USD lol but the order didn't go through for some reason =_= I am too lazy to reorder it, I should've when I bought FFXIV so the shippin was the same. bleh I suck.
I started uni earlier this september doing "Computer games development" Bsc.
Our tutor pointed out the huge student discount we get on macs etc and said preferably you should buy a good laptop to do your work on. Obviously we arent expected to but for various reasons i am after a laptop and may as well make it relevant to my course.
The problem is i know nothing about Macs and dont know whether to spend alot of money on one or get something else probably cheaper with just as good specs. Bare in mind i get 15% (stated) off Macs (although ive heard i get alot more off).
So what would you guys suggest, i guess ill be using various software on it for my course and i recall my tutor saying it should have 4gb of ram and 20gb hardrive.
Is there anything im missing with macs? I can get all microsoft stuff on it if i like, such as office or msn with no problems? And what are the main plus points of macs?
Thanks in advance.
