because it isn't lol
all it does is divide your hard disks memory, how is it an emulator for windows? it would mean that windows is running WHILE OSx is also running. which isn't true.
windows boots in a completely different disk than OSX does.

but meh, i'm being overantanalytical, it's that danky dannnk.

I was using this for the sake of analogy. And also, considering that you can browse the internet, write up reports, listen to music, and watch movies on it, it's not wholly useless, lol.
you can do all that on a PC notebook

EA Download manager, it's a program that downloads EA games to your PC, but mac doesn't have it, and I Purchased some versions of SIMs 3 expansions through online downloads for PC.
I am waiting for EADM to come for mac so I uninstall them from my windows version.
edit: it's legit from EA games @.@ not pirated.

He doesn't really run a whole heck of a lot of programs while playing FFXI on Windows side, and his game doesn't lag out. It just gets very, very *** hot. I think it's mostly due to lack of ventilation.

Darki what Vinvv is trying to say is that its ironic that you would laugh at someones lack of knowledge when you yourself only recently obtained this knowledge.
It wasn't that you corrected me, but that you said you lol at it.

My old laptop used to burn my legs, but this one has been pretty good. Then again, its graphics card does also get its own fan, lol.

and i haven't turned it off in ages so probably why it's a bit hot. Not the keyboard, you can only feel it if you lift it and touch it on the lower part. the rest is fine.

It's not that it bothers me, it just kind of snobbish and rude. Don't lol at lack of information, try to help people. Lol at people who refuse information in lieu of their own arrogance and ignorance.

Well im still undecided, but mac seems much more straight forward since i dont have to research tons into what to buy. Will run things for my course better and give me a more quality experience. I just wont probably be able to play ffxiv on it. (very well, since the uk graphics cards seem to be worse?)
If i wasnt getting a mac and i wanted a laptop for my course and ffxiv what would anyone reccommend buying?
When i have bought computers in the past, all i hear is "you should have built your own" or stuff like that after i have bought it lol. Also would i need to buy a laptop then buy a graphics card and fit it myself and all that crap?

Bootcamp isn't as efficient as running windows natively simply because of driver support. You're going to have issue with a lot of games due to not having the hardware drivers to support it. You can download secondary 'homebrew' drivers but that's touch in its self.
I'd personally buy a PC, cheaper and can do more with less hassle.

I know I'm late to the topic but back when people were talking about heat issues with a MBP I didn't see anyone mention smcFancontrol. I use it to keep my mac cool when when I use OSX and when I boot on to windows (bootcamp) I am able to still use it to keep my computer cool while playing FFXI. PM me if you have any questions about the program and I'll try to help.

I was pretty stoned last night and I was just picking at people, I do that sometimes :/
I started uni earlier this september doing "Computer games development" Bsc.
Our tutor pointed out the huge student discount we get on macs etc and said preferably you should buy a good laptop to do your work on. Obviously we arent expected to but for various reasons i am after a laptop and may as well make it relevant to my course.
The problem is i know nothing about Macs and dont know whether to spend alot of money on one or get something else probably cheaper with just as good specs. Bare in mind i get 15% (stated) off Macs (although ive heard i get alot more off).
So what would you guys suggest, i guess ill be using various software on it for my course and i recall my tutor saying it should have 4gb of ram and 20gb hardrive.
Is there anything im missing with macs? I can get all microsoft stuff on it if i like, such as office or msn with no problems? And what are the main plus points of macs?
Thanks in advance.
