If you look closely, humans are slowly developing sharper sets of canines XD. In a few thousand years, I bet we'll have to start filing them down. In a few hundred thousand after that, we'll probably all have 4 fully rooted fangs like all other animals that eat meat.

I personally knew these dogs, they belonged to my sister's best friend. They got out on accident, but were never any harm. In the article is clearly states he was advised not to leave his home.

As sad as this story is, I would hate to see the legal nightmares that would blossom from it.
I, personally, enjoy running over the occasional stray Opossum. I love the feel of it as it depresses the tires of my Tacoma, then sometimes I get a bonus if it hits the undercarriage. It's just fun and sport.
In the pic, they arent weating any ID collars or anything, so legally he could say as a defense that they were wild dogs and easily win in court.
Either way, it was a total *** move. Blasting someone's pet in the face with a 9mm is pretty messed up, and the owner should probably file a civil suit and take that sorry ***'s house to help pay for the grief and then go for punitive damages.
*** and as a followup, if you start bashing about running over possums, either try it, or save your breath, they're overgrown, overpopulated rats. When rat traps are banned b/c some HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE PETA *** thinks its morally wrong to snap a rat in half with a trap, then maybe i'll think about stopping on top of the next unfortunate overgrown overpopulated rat, and do a nice peel-out for PETA.

I don't think it's right to kill any animal for sport. People in the UK kill foxes with bloodhounds. That is wrong on so many levels.

I've ran over one before it was strangely satisfying.
I've also hit a deer by accident. The $2000 in damage was not, but I'm glad I sent that *** to the next dimension.

There are lots of stupid humans around, they're overpopulated and contribute absolutely nothing to society, not to mention some are ugly, and even fat.
Pure narcissism, thinking you can arbitrarily take a life.

I'd agree with that if there were a species intelligent and territorial enough to do so. Then yeah, the good old saying of survival of the fittest.

only reason Rats are over populated in major cities is because humans are *** nasty. it still doesn't give any right to kill something for trying to survive.
Why are you alive? you seem angry at animals for no reason but "they're in my way". killing a opossum for joy and excitement? wtf happened in your miserable life to make killing something enjoyable?
its ***like this that makes the world so messed up as it is now.

You have to keep in mind most animals kill or go on a rampage simply because something else is "in the way"...
But I understand what you're trying to say, as a highly intelligent species, we should have the ability to discern between intentional killing for a cause and killing for fun.

OP you said you knew these dogs, doesn't mean you knew everything about them. This petition and the information given are all worded in a very one sided manner that does not fit. Sinc eyou wont give us information or a link. this story is taken from the official facebook page for this. It also says on that webpage that the animal officials are investigating it so the petition may not even be needed.

Original Story:
2 Great Danes shot and killed

SILVER SPRINGS SHORES --- Marion County Animal Services officials are investigating the shooting deaths of two Great Danes by a man claiming the animals were aggressive toward him and a neighbor on Thursday.
The man, who lives in Silver Springs Shores, told a sheriff’s deputy he was in his garage working on his car when two Great Danes charged at him aggressively. He jumped on his vehicle to avoid them.
When this happened again later, the man went into the home and retrieved his 9mm handgun and his cellphone to call law enforcement.
Before authorities arrived, the man shot the dogs. His neighbor told him the dogs had attacked him, as well.
One neighbor told a deputy the dogs posed no threat; the neighbor who was allegedly attacked said the dogs twice approached him in an aggressive manner.
The dogs, one dead and the other gasping for air, were transported to the county’s animal control center, where the dog fighting for his life died.
Deputies were told by an official at the center that the animals were so dehydrated, the veterinarian did not feel they could be running around or act aggressively.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Now while it says the dogs where dehydrated this would be later in the day that returned so could have very easily charged at him the first time. There are neighbor accounts for the first time of day to support the dogs being aggressive and dangerous. Just because a 'witness' gives a report doesn't mean its true or accurate for both sides. It does not say the other neighbor who told him to stay in side said the dogs where not aggressive it says a neighbor. That person could have not even seen any of it and just been a dog lover. In court a eye witness is grilled relentlessly before they are put on a witness list.

Wait so a guy that is working on something outside should drop everything he is doing because of 2 animals being aggressive outside?
edit - not supporting the shooting, that was too much, but what you said sounds absurd
edit 2 - replace the 2 dogs with aggressive grizzly bear or aggressive human stranger. would you still feel the same?

I hate people that let there dogs jump up on people and growl, and then they simply say "Oh don't worry he's friendly" WELL *** YOU LADY, BUT HE'S GROWLING AT ME GTFO.
If the dogs were vicious and threatening to that guy, it's the owners fault for not looking after them right.

It's as much the owners fault, as the person who shot the dog.

If he shot them in his garage, he had every right to do so.
If in the street, then that's very excessive.
