Is that not what pain is?

Someone saying "Ow!" isn't pain. That's a reaction to pain.

I agree with the last few posts, there needs to be more real information before people decide to go on justice crusades.

Of course, this would not be the first time animal rights activists have been guilty of twisting the truth if that is the case. They are on my list of most hated special interest groups to be honest. Like all special interest groups they use lies, half truths, and exaggeration to achieve their goals because these groups are agenda driven.

I like the part how the man ran after the dog and shot him in the back (???) There must be more to this, I doubt some guy would just randomly shoot the ***outta' dogs.

Actually if you are in a survival situation where the only food source you have is someone in the group it all depends on how good your lawyer is.

No pain is an electrical impulse sent to a brain which causes a "feeling".

Your view of pain is just having something amputated or cut off. Blade of grass doesn't feel pain. When it's cut, it just continues growth. The grass doesn't sit there and say ouch ouch ouch over and over again without being able to do anything.

Same thing with other types of higher level life forms like humans. If an arm gets cut off, it continues to grow (in some way). But we feel the pain because a signal is sent to our brains via our neural system. If you decapitate someone and crushed the head, then cut their arm off, the arm would heal or attempt to grow for a few minutes. No pain because there's no brain to process those signals.

There are people who are just plain cruel and will hurt other living things out of maliciousness. Whether or not this is the case this time, I don't know.

Well pain is the incorrect word for the situation, but you at least understand my point. On a sub-atomic level, everything can receive pain.

On the quantum level nothing receives anything. They're just particles floating around randomly.

Though there is no brain to process the signals sent, the signals remain regardless. Plants have motivated functions to grow, much like the 4th grade project when you grew two plants in a pot and left one out for open sunlight and wrapped the other with aluminum foil, leaving it in darkness.

If you remember the one left in darkness actually grew significantly longer albeit less healthy in a brazen effort to obtain sunlight as quickly as it could before it lost all strength from lack of nutrients via photosynthesis.

It made me go "What the ***."

I think it's ironic we call people like that tree huggers when they're the ones that selectively choose to and brutally murder plants and other organisms and eat them happily with pride.

That motivated function to grow isn't called pain.

Should have fed them to starving kids. But PETA doesn't care about the lives of starving kids.

We have the teeth of an omnivore. If you're having to use supplements to make up for the lack of meat and dairy products, then there is something seriously wrong with your diet.

Just because there's no organ to process it, doesn't mean the signals aren't sent. But I wasn't really specifically speaking about pain, but rather living objects having motivation and reactions made to survive, even in plants.

Or study Buddhism, there's so much unwanted hate and arrogance in here, it's not even funny. But then again, that's everywhere.

There's this awesome saying about religion. Treat religion like your ***, keep it to yourself and don't shove it down people's throat..except for Princemercury, he's into that.

The same can go for views on religion, rather than religion itself. The lack of a religion doesn't give you the right to impose your views onto others about the subject.

No organ to process it because pain is created by that organ. But referring to grass and other plants they don't feel pain or send impulses of pain regardless. Unless you count every single cell bounded by a cell wall in a planet a living creature able to network pain to a particular location, which it isn't, even then they don't send a signal to a "root" where nothing can be done about it. Even if you took all the carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, the plant would simply grow to fit an environment as such. It won't be green, just brown. Same thing if you took all the sunlight away, the plant would just sit there not knowing what to do with all the carbon. It doesn't say, ow damnit, signal signal signal, it just continues to grow. There's no neural system to send the signals anywhere.

Oh, grass can feel pain. We better watch out!!
