i mean its not hard to get into, its just lame lol repetitive "dynamic events" are just about the only way to level besides main scenario quests, individual mobs give <10 xp
very disappointed even after playing 14 since launch, maybe I'm just not a pvp person but the pve is really meh
idk, im having more fun in this game than any mmo in a while, I like the dynamic quests and events randomly popping up, instead of "bring me 30 orc fingers*
"pick up a necklace from sandoria, have it polished in bastok, and bring it back to windurst" type of quests :/

You cant compare the quests in ffxi to other games.
You just cant. :|
The active events are far far far more entertaining then traditional questing. (This is coming from someone who has 12 lv 85's in WoW) Even doing them 20 times over and over to level through a zone I can still end up getting my *** kicked because they scale your level to the portion of the zone you're in.
Right now I'm teleporting between Events in Gendarran Fields. About to hit 30.
Thief is so beastly. 44% Crit chance. My backstab crits for 1200.
I keep checking youtube videos out on peoples early release.... I just keep hoping some of these people have crappy computers because it seems to be jerky and movements aren't smooth. Could someone youtube me to something better maybe?
I sorta don't like how you are stuck with 1 class on your character and can't change it as well.. I like diversity and the ability to fill any empty roll missing from your group.
It looks really good though so I'm torn. I would hope they do a free trial later down the road.
Max level is 80. I've put in about 20 hours so far? I think.. and I just hit 30. Knowing what I do now I could redo 1-30 much quicker.
Is the exp required at higher levels retardedly high? :/ I've played games where it jumps from like 49-50 by several times the previous amount and it just makes exping at higher levels really tedious.
After changing the camera rotation speed(Up.. a lot) the game was a lot more playable. It's not as smooth as WoW, but it's pretty damn close.
I too was looking through the GW2 videos trying to get an idea of what it was like.. so many horrible players uploading videos it was painful to watch. Thankfully gameplay is much better then the videos..

So far no. The zones and xp requirement are scaling well. There are already level 80's on the server.
What's the general feel of the game so far? I've heard quite a few people just say they couldn't get into it for x,y, and z reason.
It's fun as hell imo
A bit buggy and some Bosses are just too powerful /coughFireElemental but overall it's really fun.

Question for ye Necromancers out there. Did you guys get Signet of Undeath yet? I want to know if it's buggy for you guys cuz when I use it on NPCs, it works like it's supposed to but when I pop it on players, they claim they didn't get a rez from it. Tried it 3-4 times on players (all on Fire Elemental boss)

It's pretty fun, I'll give you that but I'm terribly unimpressed overall right now...
Squishy classes are -overly- squishy I feel. Anger 2 mobs your level? Dead. Anger a mob 1 level higher than you? With luck, you'll barely survive.
I enjoy the out of combat regeneration. I enjoy the events and crafting giving exp is "neat".
I dislike that there is -no- benefit to grinding. Sometimes it's enjoyable to mindlessly kill things. Unless it's part of an 'event' or quest though, it's 100% pointless once you have your abilities unlocked.
Movement is HORRIBLY slow. The Waypoints are there which is nice but otherwise it feels like crawling. Combat is similar to WoW in some ways but a little more than "rotation"(at least in early levels).
I dunno. Maybe it's my being stuck without friends who play it (all are 8.5hrs behind me right now while I'm over here) but I simply am not able to "dive in" like I usually do with an MMO. I play 1-1.5hrs and close it. That's it.
Mobs higher level then you hurt. badly. I carry Ranged weapons and Melee weapons. If I fight something higher level, I kite and shoot.
Equal level in melee range dodging power attacks is a must. use your mouse + strafing to move if you need to kite something. If a mob gets too close, double tap the direction you want to roll and dodge their attack.
Movement felt slow to me before I upped my camera rotation speed. Now it feels like WoW. (A little more sluggish on the turning but overall pretty good)
I'm enjoying the game, but like Shaidalyn I don't usually find myself playing for more than an hour and a half. I think part of the reason is that it sort of feels more like an offline game with online capabilities than an MMO right now, at least between levels 1 and 20. The combat is more fun than your typical MMO, but it's not mind-blowing. The Sylvari storyline so far is fine, again nothing too special.
I hope I'm wrong, but I feel like at some point I'm going to get bored by the repetitive structure I've experienced thus far in terms of map completion. WvW was fun at first but now I don't feel like waiting in a queue for 15 minutes just to hang back and fire exploding arrows into a group of rival players whilst one side or the other gets zerg-trampled.
It does feel a tad like a single player game at times, but in some ways that's part of the appeal for me. The fact that there's a worthwhile story to be had and the action is reminiscent of exciting and fun single player action games, rather than the dull slog of MMO combat.
It's all kind of a wash right now anyway because launch week bugs are keeping me from actually grouping with other people right now. I'm more than content to just roam around the world for now, as it's a thoroughly satisfying experience.
finished the beginner area on my ranger last night, now to port back to other race's starter areas and zerg trough them, collecting skillpoints and vistas and stuff. :3
I don't know how many fans of Guild Wars we have here, but for me it will always have a special place in my heart. Guild Wars was a fast based CORPG (Co-operative RPG) with no subscription fees, and really fun PVP.
Well Guild Wars 2 is on the horizon, and BOY does that game look good.
Following the same pattern of having no subscription fees this game is going to take place 250 years later, on the content of Tyria.
The game is based around the same fast paced combat, with a few small changes ofc.
Here's a cool trailer to get you in the mood for it.
*Note: Everything is real time, Even though it looks like A cutscene, it's gameplay.
