I'm following them on Facebook. Getting lots of great info from it. I finally DL'd GW1 trial. Its pretty fun. The Necromancer job is very involved, but on the other hand Warrior was kinda boring.
a question... can the game be played using a controller like ff11? im so used to that style i have a hard time using the hotkeys and whatnot. (mainly a console player, but since its not going to a console i better learn quick)
Guild Wars doesn't have native controller support, but there may be a downloadable plugin. It'd be pretty hard though seeing as most of the time you're managing 8 skills, and pinging the map etc.
Flion have you seen the GW2 tracker?
where you unlock things in the first one to get items in gw2 at launch?
I have a friend who wants to unlock those kinda things maybe some ffxiah people may be interested and we could all team up.

id be down for that
Some of the ones require beating all campaigns on regular and the extreme difficulty XD so we would need a balance of jobs but that would be the easier part

Sounds good. I have Monk, Elementalist, Dervish, Warrior, Necromancer and Ranger at level 20.
Im confused with GWs Monk, its not like FF11 mnk right? i havent made a monk yet so im just guessing its more of a whm
mnk is a healer /solo/mild dd job... you can sorta run it like a dd depending on the sub you use but its not gonna do the dmg that other jobs would, because of the abilities it gets, its all healing and protection... and solo in the 55 side
I have a warrior and ranger 20....ranger is the better spec'd barrage rng etc
i also have a 20 assassin i never play and forgot how to play and a 17 nec spec'd for MM i just need to cap rq and get the elite spell
GW2 should be pretty damn good, especially considering the fact that there's no monthly fee. I still log onto GW every now and then to mess around with titles etc., getting Legendary Spearmarshal and Holy Lightbringer titles was a highlight of my GW career. I think I got it on a second character during one of the weekend double/triple point events, but the first time was without a bonus.
I love the story of the Sylvari and how they came to be:
Quote:
There's this badass human adventurer guy around the time of Guild Wars 1, maybe a bit later. On his adventures, he finds a weird magical seed and takes it home with him. Only he arrives home to find his entire village brutally slaughtered by centaurs. He respectfully buries all the dead and plants his magic seed in the middle of the burial ground as a memorial. Naturally, a tree begins to grow from it.
So he goes on a new quest for vengeance, except along the way he meets an awesome centaur named Ventari. He and Ventari become bros and work towards a common goal. Ventari tries to unite the centaur tribes under a peaceful banner, while the human kills the ***out of any tribes who won't drop their barbaric ways. Eventually, the human dies of old age, while Ventari lives on for a few more decades. Soon, he grows old as well, and as one of his last acts, he carves a tablet containing the 7 most important lessons he's learned in his life, and leaves it at the base of the memorial tree before heading off to die.
Flash forward a century or so. Turns out that tree is way more magical than anyone realized. It's actually a sentient being called the Pale Tree, and it realizes that the entire planet is getting buttfucked by Elder Dragons. In an effort to help the races of Tyria in their battle, it begins to create the Sylvari, using the human and centaur corpses upon which it was built as templates. 25 years before the events of Guild Wars 2, the 12 Firstborn emerge, and begin to seek their destiny in the world.
So there you have it. The Sylvari are composed entirely of plant matter grown in mimicry of a humanoid form. And they're awesome.
I ended up booting up my 6-year old account, and even deciding to pick up Trilogy while I was at it. <_<
Does anyone here still play that would be down for some casual PVP? I'm in the process of learning to not suck, but being stuck with Random Arena makes that a bit difficult.
I've been logging on a bit more recently, need to get the last 5 points on the guild wars calculator. xD
Though i've never been EPIC at the game, even though i've played since a few months after it started.. xD I'm more of a casual pve player, and do pvp when i feel like it/when i need jade/amber shards -_-.

Edit: If anyone wants to play, i'm gonna be on for a bit deciding what title/achievement to go after next, my mains are Aerie Swiftarrow, Monkey The Small, X Wolf Fang Fist X (-_-) and Ghost Of Toast. :p

I've kind of been working toward a few on my Prophecies character, though I'll be starting fresh with Factions/Nightfall once I hit 20 so I can start doing some PVP. (Assuming I don't decide to just grind to 20 on my Dervish so that I can make him my main.)
Current main is Venlo Surrusrev.
edit: So I've started leveling my Dervish a bit, and I'm having trouble deciding on a sub. Rather, nothing really seems as though it would benefit the class at all; just based on what skills I'm seeing that are buyable, I'm not seeing how any class could really add to Derv's playability (realizing also that I'm newly returned to the game and am probably overlooking one of my options).
So before I default to Monk for party support, suggestions?

Warrior is nice, if you play melee Derv, alot of Warrior skills are melee, and use Adrenaline, which you'll be getting alot of with melee and aoe swings.
Alot of subs are situational, and once you do the mission "Captured!" you'll be able to buy other subs and swap between, so it doesn't make much difference.
I remember back in the day when Dervish didn't need any god-damn adrenaline, and wounding strike was near broken with chilling victory and Victorious sweep.
Especially if you used it with Attackers insight and Crippling Sweep
That was a build I made totally on my own, and I raped face with it
I don't know how many fans of Guild Wars we have here, but for me it will always have a special place in my heart. Guild Wars was a fast based CORPG (Co-operative RPG) with no subscription fees, and really fun PVP.
Well Guild Wars 2 is on the horizon, and BOY does that game look good.
Following the same pattern of having no subscription fees this game is going to take place 250 years later, on the content of Tyria.
The game is based around the same fast paced combat, with a few small changes ofc.
Here's a cool trailer to get you in the mood for it.
*Note: Everything is real time, Even though it looks like A cutscene, it's gameplay.
