I'd like to think one's relationship with a deity or source of enlightenment wouldn't be simply narrowed down to what in all honestly looks more and more like an ancient science fiction novel. That the bible contributed to slavery being accepted in society for it blatantly mentioning it. I take you saying "And we have fixed that now haven't we?" as saying "it is okay we have corrected it" meaning to me that is an exception for the bible still condoning it to this day.
