I have a horrible feeling that this solution is simply me overlooking something rather simple that somehow has eluded my line of thought and/or vision.

Anyways, in my testing to run multiple instances of FFXI for when I go for dual boxing later on, I first tried finding a way to move my primary instance of FFXI around (currently set to native resolution in overlay so it fills the entire screen but still lets me alt-tab).

Previously I somehow was able to get my instance to be the same native resolution but contain your typical window border with minimize, stretch (obviously does nothing at max res), and close. I originally thought this had to do with the "hide border" option in the GUI launcher, however, upon testing the same resolution with and without said option has given me no results. The game simply fills up the screen like before, giving me no ability to move it.

It seems to only give me that option when I reduce BOTH axis of resolution to something significantly lower than the max/native res. Which is strange to me because I would think keeping my X (width) at max while reducing the Y (height) would simply give me access to my border, which unfortunately is not the case unless I lower both.

If anyone can figure out why this is happening or what I am doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate it.

Better yet, my primary objective overall: Two instances of FFXI, both full screen with native res like before, but put into static placement per screen, since my instance seems to jump to the primary screen only unless I lower the res, give the border and physically move it myself.

Browsed the windower forums and couldn't find anything related to my issue. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.

the only way i know how to get the border, while still having it your overlay res, is to do it in game..

window_toggleframe
(hit input and then type that in, or in the regular chat box you can type //window_toggleframe)

I've tried to make it have the frame before loading the game and it never worked for me.. so I just did it once I was logged in.

Also, if you wanted to resize your window but keep the same aspect ratio, you can put in game_allowresize 1 and it'll keep the ratio for you while being able to freely resize it.

OMG thank you so much, I had no idea this was possible within the console of the windower while active.

This pretty much solves my problem, although I would like to know if it is possible to have a static placement per instance of POL/FFXI.

Go to your Windower folder (where ever you installed it), into the Scripts folder, you should see a file called "init.txt".

Open up, now you can pretty much put this anywhere, but I would plant it at the bottom of the text file so it's easier to find.

You should see the last 2 lines as:
Quote:
bind !f5 input /ta <a24>
bind !f6 input /ta <a25>

underneath that, put "window_toggleframe" so it looks like:
Quote:
bind !f5 input /ta <a24>
bind !f6 input /ta <a25>

window_toggleframe

Save and launch :)

Well this worked quite well so far except for one minor problem. Upon activating the frame and moving it over to the other screen and removing the frame (hoping it would go back to full res stretching across the entire screen) it kicked itself in the upper left hand corner a little too far so it remains partially off screen leaving a thin bar of my desktop on the bottom and right side of the screen, and leaving part of the game invisible.

Normally I would have no problem playing with the window frame active, however, it does somewhat "scrunch" the game making text look like it got the top chopped off, making things look slightly more awkward and difficult to read.

Does anyone know of a solution to this, or is my monitor alignment simply off because one is 24" and the other is 32"?

Why couldn't you give all this info out to begin with instead of half way through? >.>

Leave the border on.

Go to Windower folder, run launcher_gui.exe, with 1 res smaller than native (1600x1050), launch the window, get in game, then drag your window to 2nd screen and double click the title bar.

That's the thing, I don't wanna run it in a lower res. I wanna have it stretch to fit the entire screen just as I had in the first place but still have the option of moving it, without having it go wonky on me after I make the border appear and disabling it after the move.

I've always used the WinControl plugin.

Download plugin as usual, then you can move and resize the window from the console.

wincontrol move X Y (where X and Y are absolute co-ordinates)

wincontrol resize X Y (where X and Y are your desired resolution)

Say you have two 1920x1080 monitors, you would have your first window at 0 0 and your second at 1920 0.

Hope this helps

Sounds like this might be the ticket. I'll go try it now.
Thank you!

I suggested the lower res so you could move it around easier. Double-clicking the title bar is essentially maximising the window.

What does it matter if the border is there or not? =/

This was a triumph
I'm making a note here:
Huge success!

Worked exactly as I had hoped, it was simply a matter of putting the coordinates to negative 1920 for the x asis and it jumped into my second monitor and fit over it perfectly :D

All I gotta do is write the command down in the init.txt script and apply it to a specific startup shortcut and Voila!
