Why? Paladin Why? upon provoking do you take off running like you've just caught a football and running for a touchdown. As an amateur thief i find this highly annoying

I find this confusing as well. Did they give any particular reason as to why they ran off?

lol, I remember ages ago, back when levelling my first job, I had the most F'd up PLD i've ever partied with in the mire. Was too long ago to remember names, but he was wearing full darksteel gear, and eating ginger cookies and resting in middle of fights..

Really makes me wonder how he got 67 levels or so <.<

In context (EXP Level Sync party in Qufim Island/Yhoator Jungle/West Altepa/WajWoodlands/BhafThickets etc)

As a THF fisherman, i make it a point to pop SA and or TA before pulling mobs back to camp, hoping maybe just maybe to get multiple SA/TA's in.

I used to have the worst luck with plds. ;; I was in a static with one a few years ago who thought he was the god of all plds, used to tell me stuff like I couldn't party with any pld other than him because he was the only one who could keep hate. The funny thing was, he had a couple girlfriends in-game that were also plds, and I don't think they'd have been as interested in him if they knew he thought he was so much better than they were.

I partied with one once on thf who had never partied with a thf before. We all explained to him how to let the war provoke first, I would be lined up behind him (the pld) and sata-ws. He just did not understand, I felt bad. He would insist on fighting with his back to the wall, too, so it got to the point where I couldn't even get behind him to ws. The mage would stand a little ways off and tell the pld to come stand exactly where he was and fight there. The pld would run to the mage like the mage said, the mage would move out of the way, and the pld would follow the mage or run back to the wall. /facepalm! I eventually started sata'ing onto the war, the mage would keep the war alive, and the pld just stood there provoking every 30 seconds and didn't seem to know what else to do with himself. I really did feel bad for him.

That was all a few years ago, though, I haven't seen either of those two plds for a long time.

I used to be in a sky ls with a blm who would melee. I'd go up on thf and sata him every time he got in the way, just because I got so sick of wasting time trying to worm myself in between him and the mob so he wouldn't die because he wouldn't move. lol

Whenever I got hate on a mage or support, I'd run toward the mob, not away from it.. I figure if I run in, the melee and tank can start working on peeling it off of me quicker/more easily.

Amen to this, I do it all the time as WHM or RDM if I get a little cure-happy. One of my pet peeves is people needing to be cured, or needing the mob to be pulled off them, then running out of range because we all know that running in a megawtfwideomgcircle is going to save your sorry *** when you take the mob out of /ja range, or yourself out of casting range.
I wish more mages / players would do this, it helps a lot! hehe

Or even just stand there. Most of the time when I get a little cure happy the melee group usually provokes it before it reaches me.

I want to know where the idea of running around in a circle erases hate came from.

Probably back from their newb days when they thought running around the mob meant they evaded hits? XD
