Do You Use Any Dat Swaps?

It's a pain, I've emailed multiple people and no-one seems to have it anymore :(

I uninstalled my game and deleted everything that had to do with FFXI though, otherwise I could send it.

Will these .DATs work for any race? Or are they Tarutaru specific?

I'd assume the casting animations are Taru only due to them being ripped from Shantotto.

They'll work for any race, it's just the final animations not the casting ones.

I use quite a few dat swaps, in particular ones that change the look of weapons, or clothing.

I have made about 3 custom faces myself, 2 of which I can post here, because I don't remember where the other one went.

Also, the Mithra red mage hat with ears that Dracovivi so kindly made for me :)

I don't use any dat swaps right now, but I've been thinking about switching to the sparkly looking ele staves. I used to have that windy mh layout too. <3

FFXIDats hit a major standstill after filefront's owners decided to *** everyone over who used it when they were shutting down, so everything that was hosted there was purged. That's why most of the links are dead and a lot of the old modders stopped.

I no longer play FFXI but still have the files. This was my PLD. The legs would have been Homam, but Homam is a lot more mained than Crimson/Blood and well...those legs look horribleugly without the suit.

There's a version for each race/gender.

Are these things that other people can see of just you? I do not know anything about this process. It sounds really cool but if only I can see it then no one else can have fun with it also. Does this break any of the ToS?

Yeah, Gabaranth. Came with a Helm as well, but I use a Turban on PLD and well...having a Judge helm on every Hume wearing a Walmart Turban means a shitload of people would have it. Including my WAR. >_> Plus, it looked a little off.

I didn't make the dat though. I can't mess with VRS to save my life. Kudos to the maker though!

It can only be seen on your computer, so it's not like someone can report you for hacking.

Whether or not it's breaking ToS is a little debateable. It's technically not an advantage of any kind, but you ARE modding "property of SE" or some such jazz. It's really silly but there's no way that it can be proven an individual dat mods.

Well that is cool. So if i wanted a different color fir on my character or wanted to change the color of a piece of armor no one would be able to tell it would just look cooler for me. thats really awsome. I will have to look into this more now. I would love to have white and purple RDM AF, or to be a shadow cat instead of the normal brown.

I've been playing with .dats for almost a year now, silly because of the fact that I've only had my accounts active about 3 of the last 14 months <.< but I like to make them, recoloring is a very soothing thing and I still get to mess with something I enjoy even though its in short chunks of time. Recently I made this set and submitted it to ffxidats:



I like to edit and recreate SE's original stuff, and I've found a lot of it for the Elvaan female and Mithras redone in some very attractive ways ::I'm a fan of the shapely females, what can I say, I'm not small busted so it was mildly bothersome that all of the characters were:: so I have a lot of mods done by the jp modder Lowtech, well more accurately the dats that were made by them and converted by Alikona. I only recently started thinking about sharing the dats I have, and if anyone REALLY IS KINDA BORED A LOT you can look on my stupid photobucket page were I have a ton of WiP's and .dats I've done or used. Be aware tho that I upload constantly throughout my stupid little editing process so there is a lot of repeats and a ton of things that really don't look quite right. Also I've changed many since then, especially my faces.

Also I have a question. I've actually been considering .dats but I am guess it's like windower? They don't know unless you are stupid enough to talk about it IG?

They're not going to do anything even if you do talk about it ingame.

Like literally. I went through the trouble of shouting it and waiting 20 minutes in Whitegate to see if anything happened.

Needless to say, nothing happened. Something like 40% of the PC users that play FFXI use Windower, and that's a huge, huge chunk of money that SE would lose if they banned people for using it.


And no, you don't even need windower.

The only reason I shouted because I was quitting anyway, so what's the worst I had to lose? Either way, even though I quit a few months ago, I still remember how to do anything and everything.

The ones I did retouch, or created my own, are:

My face - green/emerald eyes, and a some sort of lipstick.


My biggest DAT edit - white/pink PLD equipment, made to resemble the drawing a friend of mine made last year.

Was looking for a long haired .dat for a long time. Finally found one.

Now I'm looking for nobles/aristo in the same style as cleric's. I've seen it, but can't remember where. :( Also would like to change the look of my Teiwaz as well, but all the weapons I've attempted to download were broken links. :/

Edit: Love those Blessed Trousers too. Could I possibly have that? ^^;
