it made up for the last 2 or 3 GDQs where the metroid races were pretty awful. in fact one of the last couple ones wasn't even a race

Sadly, I fell asleep. Glad to see they beat last year.
I'm kinda wanting an SNES and SMRPG.

Apparently AGDQ starts January 8th.

Apparently AGDQ starts January 8th.
They generally are the first Sunday of January and July.
The tension between bubbles and bt was pretty obvious. GDQ chose bubbles to run fallout 4 when bt had the world record so he quit running it. GDQ drama was pretty minimal this year.

I think the only drama was with the "Pacifist" incentive that was just flat out ignored even though it was met.

I actually love this, it's fun, to me, watching people run games, make informational or funny commentary, and watching the donation counter go up. I'm kinda sad it's over but I'm looking forward to AGDQ now.

There are a host of speed run marathons all year, though none with the production value of GDQ. If you're into watching, proth has a pretty good handle on even the more obscure ones.

RPGLimitBreak is basically the same people running the show. They hold events fairly often.

Also once a year now they run a Final Fantasy Relay race. Team Mog vs Team Choco.
First team to beat every FF game wins
order this year was FF1, ff2, 3, 4 , mystic quest, 5, 6, 7, Tatics, 8, 9, 10, 10-2, 12, 13, 13-2, 13 Lightnings return
That set took them 82 hours and 40 minutes to complete.

next "big" ones are ASM and ESA. ASM starts in a couple of days, ESA in a couple of weeks. ESA is basically a smaller European version of GDQ and ASM is the shorter AUS version. Nothing too big for the rest of the summer after those.

Proth, do you know which sites that list world records are reputable/updated?
I found one today that had some Dragon's Dogma runs listed but it was like... only 2 runners for some modes existed, no rules were listed, and some of them were several months old.

speedrun.com is pretty much the hub for speedrun leaderboards. any other smaller ones are generally unused and not really respected. can try looking on SDA
Dragon's Dogma is a pretty bad speed game and doesn't have a very big SRL community around it

Last 3 rough? You mean the best.

About time to make this. Last year was a huge success, and AGDQ 2016 broke all records, let's see if SGDQ manages to follow in its footsteps.
SGDQ begins on July 3rd, 2016 and ends on July 9th, 2016.
Schedule: https://gamesdonequick.com/schedule
Location: https://www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick
What is SGDQ?
Games Done Quick is a series of charity video game marathons. These events feature high-level play by speedrunners raising money for charity. Games Done Quick has teamed up with several charities in its six-year history, such as Doctors Without Borders and the Prevent Cancer Foundation. SGDQ benefits Doctors Without Borders.
The schedule looks stacked this year, tons of amazing games and runners. Looking forward to it!
