Arguing that people should or shouldn't have specific thoughts in their head when they discriminate is the stupidest thing as a society we've ever rallied for.

Yeah. Teaching people not to hate is terrible.

One does not need to hate homosexuals in order to think that they're lifestyle is wrong in the eyes of their faith.

It's just so deliciously ironic seeing Nausi rant and rave and rally against the "entitled protected classes" that he hates so much, not realizing all he's doing is trying to protect his own entitled, protect class.

No, one doesn't. But one does have to treat them as second-class citizens to deny them services based on their lifestyle choices.

Shouldn't it be the unalienable right of a business to refuse its products or services to anyone without need for explanation.

A business is my property, it belongs to me. I may choose to do with my property as I please as long as my actions do not endanger others.

In the UK this is how the law works, if a shopkeeper thinks your eyebrows are too close together he can refuse to serve you.

If businesses were forced to sell their products to everyone simply by virtue of the fact they sell them to other people, then shouldn't ISIS be able to purchase weapons from American weapon manufacturers?
What?

In the UK it is illegal to discriminate against certain qualities, close eyebrows, however, is not a protected against.

Quote:
1. Types of discrimination
It is against the law to discriminate against anyone because of:

age
being or becoming a transsexual person
being married or in a civil partnership
being pregnant or having a child
disability
race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin
religion, belief or lack of religion/belief
sex
sexual orientation
These are called ‘protected characteristics’.

You’re protected from discrimination in these situations:

at work
in education
as a consumer
when using public services
when buying or renting property
as a member or guest of a private club or association
You are legally protected from discrimination by the Equality Act 2010.

You’re also protected from discrimination if:

you’re associated with someone who has a protected characteristic, eg a family member or friend
you’ve complained about discrimination or supported someone else’s claim

Then it isn't discrimination if you goto a person that doesn't believe in gay marriage and insist that they participate in your gay marriage.

Yes, it is. If they offer wedding services and they deny it to someone based on their sexuality, it is discrimination.

Now they don't have to cater to the special demands they don't offer because the client is homosexual, that wouldn't be discrimination.

All I know is that I hope Nausi has never, ever, once in his life been turned on by two women touching each other -- even with a man involved -- in porn.

Otherwise every last thing he says is utter trash.

Well, really, most things he says are already utter trash, but in this case it would be utter trash with a serving of cat poop.

Keep that battle cry of discriminated christian majority going, Nausi. Some day, someone other than you fools who can't see beyond your own noses will figure it out.

Say it with me again, "allowing others the same rights and privileges as I have does not revoke my own rights rights and privileges."

It's become the iconic example for these hateful laws and policies being disguised as "religious freedom".

Brought back into play recently as the state of Indiana passed a "religious freedom" law allowing businesses to discriminate based on sexual identity and preferences.

Faith shouldn't be used as a barometer to measure your approval of another. If the lesson you took away from church was "gays are wrong" then either the messenger or the message was mangled horribly from it's original intent.

Mosin, you've now addressed the intent of religion as a whole and blown right past its practical use in Americaworldwide. Religion isn't about Christ's (or any other divine being's) teachings of peace, tranquility, or togetherness. It's about twisting the Biblereligious text to justify abhorrent behavior.

Some religions just take more twisting than others.

No. Just no. lol... Just because some people use something to benefit their own prejudice doesn't mean its a reflection of the whole.

It is legal to discriminate against gays in Indiana regardless of this law. Where has all of this fake outrage been for the last 150 years?

The media whipped you all into a frenzy again. It's so easy to do.

And oh yeah its an opportunity to tee off against a Republican governor while excusing Democrat icons for passing similar laws. The Christian hating bigots on left will never miss an opportunity either.

Religion is constantly used as justification for terrible things. Saying "it's not the religion's fault these people do this" is ignoring a major component of their hate.

Their religions are used to hate.

What percentage of people does it take doing it before it becomes unacceptable?

That said, I'm not crying out for a law denying religious beliefs. I'm just saying that allowing people to use them to discriminate shouldn't be justified, protected, or supported by law.

They should have left it as is then.

All this really did was hurt Indiana as a whole.

I do love how lawmakers or people in general take an action and then expect everyone to just sit back and do or say nothing about it if they feel the need to. Stop bitching and just take whatever we give you! No opinions for you! lol...

Dude, it's every person's right to think whatever lesson they want. I wish people weren't so stupid too sometimes, but part of freedom of speech is putting up with the speech you don't like.

Grow a backbone already. It's every person's right to call someone else a ***. Surely you can understand that offensive speech is the speech that the first amendment is designed to protect?

Indiana doesn't really need this law, people can already refuse service based on someone's sexual orientation without it. The law just re-states the obvious.

I pointed out the difference two pages ago.

It's not surprising that the people championing the law have the shakiest understanding of it.
