I banked with them once, was horrible. Ended up canceling my account and moving to a different bank. Them and Wells Fargo were utter sh!t with customer support, they really didn't care about anyone that had less then a million USD with them. Anyhow it's their own choice to be douches and refuse perfectly good money. But that brings me to another point, how on earth can a bank refuse to process payments from someone in the adult films industry but a bakery can't refuse to bake weddings cakes for a homosexuals?
Because bakeries don't have senators in their back pocket.
Because the sex industry isn't a protected class.

Neither are homosexuals.

Banking executives, however....

(And if it's not clear, I'm speaking in the sense of what we all know to be true, not the literal definitions.)

If we're going to take a look at the bakery as well they actually received an increase in business after they refused to service the gay couples cake needs.

While I may disagree with their stance or approach on the matter, it is important to note that public perception is a powerful thing and worrying about reputation can be important for business. It could be the difference between losing a thousand small accounts and keeping a hundred large accounts.

This is a business, they don't care about you and they never will and they don't have to. When you start to realize that you might start to realize that they are not required to do what you want them to just because you want them to. It may be disgusting or distasteful and you may not agree with it but yeah...

Edit: Also, the cake place needed to reformat their entire business to be able to keep running without violating the law so it's not as if they were just allowed to refuse service and go on with their day either.

I may be remembering incorrectly but I was under the impression that in CO you can not descriminate based on sexual orientation.

Money is what you're talking about not bankers in general.

I feel like you're taking what I'm saying too concretely.

Obviously I meant monied individuals in general and I'm merely poking fun at the double (triple? quadruple? I've lost track) standards in our otherwise great country.

I was just replying to the comment that the bakery couldn't refuse to sell the homosexual couple. They were able to refuse but they had to completely reclassify their business to do so.

Hmmm... now to apply a stretch of the imagination that could very well be the case in point.

The only way this would make sense is if:

Chase can prove that the recent influx of Arab producers to the Adult Entertainment Industry over the last 15 yrs in fact have ties to terrorist organizations. Thus a desire to disassociate themselves from all forms of the adult industry money chain.... but if this were the case, HSBC is willing and able to take the money without repercussions.

From what I've read the porn industry is very good at making sure it's employees are well protected. They don't feel the need to be regulated as they claim to keep very good records.
Are you being sarcastic again?

The porn industry is hard to generalize, just like any other large and varied industry. It has a lot of nastiness and exploitation in it, though, especially any studio that regularly features or specializes in very young workers. Their records-keeping is somewhat irrelevant when they willfully look the other way when an obviously-16-year-old is flashing a false ID and a lot of skin.

I've watched documentaries from skeptics defending the porn industry and it is no coincidence that they focus on adult workers who have years under their belt and work with studios that treat them well. But the majority of porn work, especially if you want native speakers of English involved, is like doing work at SAG scale in Hollywood; which is to say, you may as well call yourself Juan or Rosalita because you're an easily replaced day laborer.

That said, it still makes no sense to block workers from banking with them. If they want to cut ties with the studios in an effort to force the system to change, that's certainly their right (I'd argue that it won't work, but that's irrelevant), but there's literally no way for the public to know that *** McGee, who makes $5,000 a year getting *** in the ***, banks at Chase unless Chase goes out of their way to tell us.

Maybe that's what I was reading, propaganda from the Porn Industrial Complex.

Well, the good news is that Wells Fargo has no problems with porn stars coming into their locations and depositing their huge wads. ATM activity is expected to explode.

I would hazard a guess that no one outside of the bank employees knew, and even fewer cared that adult media workers banked with Chase. This was news to me and I'm a member of Chase bank.

Chase always seemed like a bank that would screw people over and not have the decency to at least offer a reach-a-round.
