sadly I believe endgame activities brought rp to an end, since you really cant RP during those situations. if there is an RP shell, it would be a small social shell with mid levels and under, which in case would be harder nowadays.... wish you luck to.
I remember years ago, when I started xping whm, someone runs up to out of nowhere in Dunes, and goes:
/slap, wtf you arent a ninja! I hate you!
and runs away.
._.;
also did some light RP on forums years ago, and got tired of the "omg I have super-sayan-10 powers, shoot lazors out of my eyes and cat die lololol"
/facepalm
yagudo are cool ! if your char have 20years+ would have been a kid during the big war, so you can explain during any move of mithra or attack on windy, some sentimental yagudo who can't have any kid with madame yagudo, seen your shining mithra eyes and decided to take you : o
or two daddy galka, would be even more cool story : o
my regret in this game is to dont have tried rp with some group at least a bit, couldn't do rp all the time i guess, though created some stories to my char, it's fun enough i guess : o (though my char dont have two daddy galka, nor yagudo mommy)
I think the closest I'll get to RP is using in game terminology on a regular basis and using accents and whatnot such as Ta-taru, and slurred Rs as when Mithra.
There's an appeal to acting in character to your alter ego, but the whole mommy, daddy thing is kinda iffy, especially since the whole premise of the game is being a no-name, independent orphan of an adventurer.

How could you lose such a precious item that signifies the pride of your former generation that fought bravely against the Yagudo Theomilitary on the arid fields of Meriphataud? They paid for your life in their blood!

Anyways, RP on a lighter and less personal scale interests me still.
Just not many people into it. It's too bad cause it really puts the game under a different light and perspective instead of just droning on and on for simply getting "Phat loot."
Nothing wrong with that of course, especially if it's your forte to begin with.
The one thing that got my brain ticking on the concept of RPing in a MMO was actually the trailer of FFXIV. When you see how each person takes on their own persona, interacting with one another, personalities either mingling or clashing based on their personalities and tastes.
Even simply the manner in which you perceive things in game can put the game under a whole different light. Just watch the first few minutes of the trailer to see what I mean.
The Miqo'te seems to care not whence her daily bread comes from, nor her sources of income or location which she takes a night's rest, yet eagerly awaits a choice of missions to earn her cut. While the Elezen seems to carry around this poise and false sense of class, yet willingly brings himself along with said company; perhaps out of a self-applied sense of guardianship or obligation to assure victory over the undesirable alternative. And though silent, the Hume takes on the most dire of mission choices, caring not for coin or glory, but rather to simply satiate his thirst for high-octane adventure.

SO what I was thinking is, if your adopted ffxi mithramom was actually a manthramom, and you found out he was actually a guy, you couldn't really get mad because he's just roleplaying as a mithra. If you got upset, that would make you a hypocrite.
