Back pre-Abyssea I was a Lv36 RNG in ronfare [s] at the colibri camp with my flag up soloing colibri a party of 6 came and started camping on me and I was killing way faster then they could and they called a GM on me and I got whisked away and told I need to leave and gave me a warning.

He warped me back where I was told them they suck and left.

Edit: I've also seen 2 people open 99 +1 cases and go 1/99

Someone could be collecting friends accounts when they quit or just using them to make free Empy weapons without going into abyssea and the glavoid login stuff etc

I have like ~15 random friends accounts over the years collected just if they asked for drops or to keep them alive for chocobo raising etc but dont bother to ever log them in since no need for me personally

This is exactly why I wanted to know. I'm disabled and play 16 hours a day. My friends can't get stuff done, so I help.
Yeah exactly.

For example I absolutely loved locking embrava on strange devices and just afk murdering lvl 90+ mobs slowly skilling up all sorts of skills and mules, and would encourage anyone to come afk overnight nearby, to have up to 16 chars wake up the next day from lvl 1-99 and then they can embrava skillup that new job beside me and slowly learn the new job intricacies while getting good money from sparks and helping afk friends exp back, was great for encouraging camaraderie and removing all the normal annoyances from exping new jobs or breaking weapons/trials

Cor +2 and Pld+2. Neither max. And I don't really play PLD.

Oh I thought of another one. I got invited to the windower team for like all of 1-2 months while unemployed. Though I think I had source access for a while after that. My C++ wasn't great at the time though so I think I managed a single bug fix and spent the rest of the time wrapping my head around crazy template magic lol

The account list inside of PlayOnline is hard-coded to a maximum of 20 slots. It's limited to only showing 4 of those slots currently due to a feature flag inside of polcore.dll not being set. The patch you guys are doing is not really recommended since you are allowing the client to exceed the 20 slot maximum which can lead to account file corruption. If you go beyond 20 slots you will crash PlayOnline and potentially lose your currently saved account info.

Here are two alternative methods of enabling this in a safer/more proper manner:

1. Edit Flag Value In polcore.dll Memory

This feature is controlled by a flag inside of polcore.dll, there are two functions within polcore that are exposed via its main command table that allow you to get/set this flag value. Instead of patching the check within app.dll, you can instead just set the flag to enabled within polcore's memory, leaving PlayOnline to be able to properly limit itself to 20 accounts and avoid the buffer overrun.

For the current versions of PlayOnline, the flag is at this offset:
- polcore.dll + AA83C

The value is a uint32_t (4 bytes) just set it to 1 and it will be enabled. This offset is the same for all 3 versions of POL. (NA, JP, EU)

--

2. Call Proper polcore.dll Function To Enable Feature

The more proper way to deal with this would be to actually call the function inside of 'polcore.dll' that is used to set the flag. To do this, you first need to get the main polcore command function table which is generally exposed through its COM interface. You can either do all the COM hassle to pull the interface instance and call the method to get the command function table, or you can just pull it via the following signature:

- Pattern: 8B442408C700????????33C0C20800
- Offset: +6

This will be the pointer to the command table. It is just a simple array of function pointers. The function of interest for this feature is at offsets 1074 and 1075.

- Offset: 1074 - Get Flag
- Offset: 1075 - Set Flag

The prototypes for these are just:

- get: int32_t __cdecl get_flag(void);
- set: int32_t __cdecl set_flag(int32_t val);

Cast the given pointers in the command table to the proper prototype and call as needed.

For those using Ashita v4, I've released a new polplugin named extraslots for this under our current beta branch. It'll be fully released in the near future.

Do we have any historic memory of when/how/why it got locked to 4? Multiple people swear that it didn't use to be the case.

You're right, it's useless now, might as well not publish it at all.
