Think of Trump in debates as Tim Tebow in that playoff game against the Steelers.

i don't get why this matters? we can all make our minds up about what happened. is it for people who didn't watch it to be able to point to something as proof that trump is competent?

I would call it a draw, maybe. He didn't do well on the sex tape, at all, and didn't apologize. She didn't do well on the emails. But he really died on the Syria question, he couldn't answer it, and he called out his own running mate, and just started rambling off stupid claims. He probably stopped the freefall that his campaign was in, but I don't think he did enough. He needed to actually answer the questions on healthcare and taxes.

The only reason I'm pointing it out is that debates are almost always heavily partisan and predictable when it comes to who is going to say what in here. I just think it's nice to see what people think who didn't go into it with a predetermined winner in their mind.

Whoa, our nuclear program has fallen way behind? That is complete *** lol. No one has a better nuclear program than the US.
Our systems do need to be updated and modernized.
Maybe our silos, and that is a big maybe, because I don't really think those would be used. They should be shuttered, imo. I don't think it is worth keeping them online. Our submarine fleet is the best in the world, and that would be, most likely, the first strike. Our Air Force bombers are the best, even the B-52s are better than anything else in the air. There is nothing wrong with our nuclear program, and it certainly isn't "falling behind." Our Nuclear program overall is well behind other countries. Not in terms of armament, but in terms of updated tech. Our sub fleet is old and aging, and is not slated to get the funding it needs to build more Virginia class and better type submarines. Subs literally spend years in drydock or anchored to the pier, unable to power up, due to faults within the reactor plant.
When Mavis went around giving speeches to Naval bases about this very subject, he said it's highly likely that with the way things are going currently, we're going to let our subs atrophy till they're no longer usable. Our Subs our are biggest advantage for Nuclear deterrence, and we need to put more into them.
Really, where other countries beat us is with reactor technology. Even the French have better reactors and more reactors per square kilometer. The French, for god's sake. We talk about energy, we should be talking about nuclear. We need more of it.

Trump was talking about our nuclear weapons program, which he doesn't know anything about, not our reactors (which he also doesn't know anything about). Our submarine program hasn't been upgraded because frankly, there isn't a pressing need for it to be, and the GOP would never pay for it anyways given the current dysfunction in Congress. I would like to see a little bit more spent on anti-sub warfare but the fact is, its hard to justify it given the state of the Russian program, which is the only threat.
There is no Red October out there, their sub program is abysmal. I think they are actually still sailing (and building) the Kilos, they haven't upgraded in a really long time. Sure the Russian fleet has recovered a little bit since they lost that boat in the early 2000s, but it still sucks. Even our old LA subs are better than the "Improved" Kilos.
I was disappointed that neither candidate focused on nuclear energy, I don't know why they are so afraid to shut coal down. Coal sucks. Go nuclear.

I was disappointed that neither candidate focused on nuclear energy, I don't know why they are so afraid to shut coal down. Coal sucks. Go nuclear. The two are inexorably linked, since our subs house both nuclear reactors and nuclear ballistics. The problem and the pressing need is, is that when our subs rust away, we can't just churn them out of a factory. They have to be in place ahead of time. We haven't actually made any new ballistic subs. The most recent ones were made in the early/mid 80s, and their term of service is gonna be up within the next 15~ or so years. They already house massive problems with maintenance and combat readiness. It will only get worse.
So I mean, if we shutter our silos, we have to churn out a new class of SSBN. If we don't churn out a new SSBN, we gotta ramp up our silos. Preferably both.
I have a feeling that most politicians stay away from talking about Nuclear due to its complex nature. I still wish that one of them would though, preferably Trump. I don't think it as a power source is a big ticket thing in this election though, as disappointing as it is.

At any rate, it's tough to do well on the topic since we've pretty much failed at it as a nation since before the turn of the millennium. I don't know how a businessman would be have any new answers for our current problems, but I don't exactly trust Mrs. Benghazi either.
He has this strange problem where he's making the perfect point; he's right there going for the kill, doesn't realize it, another idea pops in his head and he starts rambling.
I rest my case. #cokesniffles
Funny you mention cocaine. Bill Clinton had an affinity for cocaine himself.

Done watching the thing on youtube...
I really don't understand how people can say Trump "won". Cause he was on the attack? Is that how you define a "winner"? He dodged so many questions...the leaked tape? Rambling about ISIS for no reason; healthcare plan? No answer. He just says things will be in the end result good or great or better, but never says how.
Also, remember when last week we all agreed Kaine was horrible cause he constantly interrupted? Trump did the same, with an icing of unwarranted costant whining.
You can dislike Clinton's answers, but at least she bothered to give them. She only really lost it during the part about emails. And I also found stupid when she had talked about extra-politics stuff to attack him and after he countered in the same vein she went on "oh look, he doesn't want to talk about the issues!" <_<
I wish Obama could just cancel this and call for new primaries lol. "Sorry these guys suck, let's get new ones please!"

Dodged questions? He was brutally honest about the questions which was in stark contrast to Hillary's answers. I mean, look at the tax code question, he flat out says that "yes, he takes those deductions." You can't get much more straight forward and honest than that. And that was supposedly one of Hillary's "big hitters" to use against Trump.
