So what is wrong with having the states decide what is best for their people anyway? State legislators are easier to oust and are completely liable for the people they serve. Unlike a certain senator from Nevada or California calling all the shots currently...

Go make a conservative thread, then. The non-liberal crowd almost never posts any threads and then they get snarky. It's ironic, really, since conservatives are supposed to be the "Do it for yourself" crowd.

Regarding the article, meh. Stunts like this get pulled all the time. If it actually gains traction, update us, but don't hold your breath.

Well, if you look between the lines, they are doing it themselves.

Instead of moaning, they are taking action.

Well, they're hanging out and talking about taking action. This is a long, long, long way from the first time this kind of thing has happened. Politicians of every stripe (and their supporters) have these meetings and conventions and other nonsense all the time. Most of the time, the best that can be said is they're stimulating the economy of whichever hotel they booked for the weekend.

But, anyways, you know full well that I was talking about local posters with that line, not politicians actually trying to fulfill their beliefs and political creed.

You admitted on here you haven't paid attention to state politics. So, what have you done for Abbott yet?

No, its a CONSERVATIVE thread. Its about a conservative campaign. There is nothing liberal in the OP which does come form a liberal source I admit.

I have been paying attention to state politics recently since Rick Perry is leaving office.

But I cannot legally tell you what I have done for Greg Abbott.

Its a news based thread.

Most of mine are. I find stuff I think might spark a conversation and post it. Some aren't political, they tend to fade fast though.

But I bet I could pull something from The Drudge Report and people would still think it liberal.

If it is from The Drudge Report, it wouldn't be biased towards liberals.

When I say a "liberal-biased" I meant the source, not the thread itself. To say that Slate is "news" is saying that Limbaugh is an independent reporter.

I thought it relatively unbiased reporting.

Nothing alarmist about, nothing made up, no pointing fingers, no mouth foaming.

If you want biased reporting its out there, and some of it on Slate. Better examples would be Mother Jones, The Drudge Report, the New York Daily News, and of course FOX.

I thought it was a little biased myself. For one, it was emphasizing that only conservatives were for this idea, even though there were liberals there too. It was focused on one of the 5 people organizing this event, Mark Levin, and quoted one of his book's out of context. It was mainly stating that this won't happen and that the people behind it were crazy in trying to do it.

As for biased reporting, you forgot CNN, MSN, ABC, NBC, AP, Wall Street Journal, heck, pretty much all of them are biased one way or another.

Indeed. My personal favorite was the time that one station altered the Treyvon Martin 911 tapes.

They're biased towards making money. Any pervasive political slant you see in today's media is your own confirmation bias peeking through.

I meant in the federal level. I don't like having a US Senator/House of Reps decide what I should do with my life, which is what we have been getting for the past decade or so.

I am not arguing with you because I'm just going to cite ignorance for the moment: what are you talking about specifically?

It's far better to have someone who pretends to care about your life to decide what's best for you than having someone who cares more about him/herself to make the decision for you. Senators and generally all politicians are supposed to care about their people or at least they have to pretend they do anyways.

On the other hand, it might do the USA some good if they have a King or Queen to lead the country?

I'm talking about the partisan atmosphere we have had.

There has been several good ideas from both sides of the isle recently, and yet, nothing gets done because of that Senator in CA (Issa) or NA (Reid) keeps bickering towards and around each other.

Uuuuuuh... wut?

You specifically said that you don't like the federal government telling you what to do with your life. When asked what you mean, you cite the fact that the federal government has been partisan and basically useless for years -- meaning they haven't accomplished anything to impact your life positively nor negatively. I don't get it.

I can never figure this out. All the time I read and hear reporting about The Drudge Report being biased reporting. I've been hitting it for a few months now, and as far as I can tell there is NO reporting. It's literally just links to news stories the majority of which seem to be from local CBS, the Guardian, and Politico on the liberal, a few from Breitbart on the conservative side, and then most others from countless other networks both lib or conservative.
Apart from not doing any reporting at all its not even filtering conservatively, the majority of stories seem to be liberally biased, even a UCLA study (yes its a bit old, but from the last couple months I'm recording a similar bias at least) found that Drudge actually tends to be more liberal than conservative.
I think it's just a scary word for liberals to say to children, like the boogey-man, "eat your vegtables or THE DRUDGE REPORT"
