Honestly, for people who took LONG breaks, and are gonna reactivate for SoA this isn't a bad idea. Why so negative folks? It's SOMETHING at least. They didn't have to give us any bonus weeks/weekends lol.

If they wanted to do something for returning players trying to grind something up...
Well shouldn't most those people at least have 75s..
But if they wanted to, they'd make pages give capped exp instead of escalating, and they'd make skilling up, just for this short event, really really easy.

I don't think the books will be 2x, but each book mob will be, that's what I meant.

All in favor of finding a level 37 sync so we can go murder Colibri in East Ron [S] and then replace him 3 seconds later, say aye!

only good for dynamis.
Maybe good to lvl 1-10 with exp ring in 10minutes?
But then leeching exp via GoV until 30 and then abyssea (still faster than double exp)
The main reason of SE could be nerf FC-leech-pts in abyssea

Well this will be for all the new people starting out or returning players coming back for the new expansion rather than the current player base.

I would say it depends on what the 'Dedication effect being doubled' before saying leeching GoV will still be faster. Lets assume that since they didn't say 'duration' they mean the bonus from Dedication will also be doubled.
Lets say you have a PL and you're getting the max amount of EXP possible first. Starting at level 61 you get 800 EXP for killing something 15 levels above you. So 1600 experience as a base. Doubling the Dedication effect I assume will mean, instead of +100% (Decennial Ring) you will get +200%. So that will add another 3200 for that one kill lol. So 1 kill... 4800 exp. Lets take it further and say that even if it's practically impossible that you got a Chain #5 from a monster that's 15 levels above you. Lets also say you had a Lucky 11 on Corsair's Roll. That'd be 1600 x 1.5 x 1.24. So, 2976 + 200%. So you would get 8928 exp for that single kill, nevermind the fact that the Decennial Ring would wear off before that.
But lets even go one step farther. Lets say you had a Decennial Ring, Kupofried Ring, AND an Allied Ring. You time the Chain so that you put your Allied Ring on for the last kill. That's 2976 + 300%. So, 11,904 exp. Even though that would never happen it was fun calculating the what if scenario.
More realistically lets say you have a Decennial Ring, a PL, Corsair's Roll, and you're fighting something that is 3 levels above you around level 40 or something. That's 200 x 2. 400 x 1.5 x 1.24. 744 + 200%. So that's 2232 for a Chain 5 which isn't THAT unrealistic at level 40. If you can make that chain in a short time that would be quite a lot of exp in what 6-8 minutes? But I mean, not everyone will have a PL, those rings, or Corsair's roll, just like not everyone has someone to leech GoV off of, but even so, a Chain 5 ending in 2232 exp seems faster to me.

Hm. I wonder if this would make it faster to BRD pl someone through low levels, instead of book burning.

"""* Experience points earned by completing certain types of content or via the use of items will not be doubled."""
no, SE can't fool anyone. GoV and FoV will still be faster cause you gain stats boon + good amount of exp...
Then... Dynamis exp trials is the only stuff that matter... or you can try to make a party of 6ppl... grind like old times...
Ninja EDIT: it'll decrease the sick of leveling jobs to level 10, using rings will really matter though! lol
By Valentine 2013-01-31 08:02:54
oh wait I'll gain 2 points of exp instead of 1! if you happen to know what i'm talking about lol

That Mamook screencap makes it look even more miserable. . . Full pink/perle, DANCING EDGE (da faq?) and honestly back at 75 that camp would be nothing short of awful.
TBH Double exp IN Campaign as a patch might've been more exciting ._.

Slycer said: Not really sure what happened, but was double EXP implemented early by accident? It's not really clear from the post (translation). Anyway...
Regarding Double EXP
After the version update the other day, we were surprised by the increased amount of GM calls we were receiving regarding the amount of EXP for the double EXP campaign [[I'm not really clear what he's talking about here, but he's alluding to the fact that the double EXP mechanism might have been turned on early??]].
Anyway, the campaign will be conducted at the end of this week and I'd like to answer a few questions about Double EXP.
Quote: [[Player asks if the location "all of Vana'diel" also includes "other world" areas like Dynamis, Lumoria, Promyvion, etc.]]
Yes, all those areas are included.
Quote: [[Player asks if adventuring fellows also receive double EXP]]
This is only for player characters. We will consider this after the campaign ends; however, and may do this in the future if it won't create any problems.
Follow-up
Regarding the "implementation period" for the campaign, there were some suggestions that it was too short. Although we are not saying that three days is the best duration for something like this, after we take a look at this with some trial and error, we will move to a better policy.
Also, regarding variations to the campaign, we will consider it. Since we prepared the game to allow future campaigns, based on the results of this one, we will decide to what extent we want to implement these in the future. Begins:
Apr 04, 2013 8:00 PST | Ends:
Apr 07, 2013 7:59 PST | Automatically converted to your time zone |
| | | Return of the Double EXP Campaign! (03/29/2013) |
| | | | | | | | At long last, Seekers of Adoulin hits Vana'dielian shores!
To celebrate the beginning of the pioneering endeavors by adventurers all across Vana'diel, we will once again be holding a Double EXP Campaign! This time, in addition to your characters receiving a double EXP boost, your adventuring fellow will also receive the same bonus. |
