okay so i will RANDOMLY get S Lag, upper right hand cornor, the S drops below 150

What this does, is delay EVERYTHING i do, /check someone, it wont happen for 4~5 seconds.

Use an ability, it wont happen for 4~5 seconds. etc.

I was curious if anyone was having this problem and fixed it? Help me out. please ; ;

Just as an FYI i have opened FFXI Ports on my ISP, so thats not the prob.

Thanks in advanced

Well, Sending would be your side without a doubt. Make sure the ports are opened correctly on your Router and also check your Software Firewall on your Computer, assuming you use a PC.

That won't really case the S to drop, sure it would create lag on a slower machine though.

Edit: Avoiding the WindowerIzBad!! conversation, but the SE Windower really sucks in my personal opinion.

Outgoing packets are always white listed by routers though so that's not really an issue unless he was having problems with receiving data.

Try using a specific alternate DNS
Domain Name System is only used for converting Google.com into 72.14.213.106 so it wouldn't affect FFXI since POL/FFXI Client already know the IPs of the severs and don't need to use DNS to look them up. (DNS queries are usually cached anyways and isn't used to transfer data between client and server).

That's not exactly true, I have to allow outgoing and incoming on my Router. But I guess for the majority it would be correct, so yeah.

Nope. The model of the actual router, it helps a lot because me (and Bart) will be able to help you out a lot easier then.

I know some firewalls, like ZoneAlarm for example, are more strict then others. They won't allow programs to send out data without permission. In my head I was thinking of a Cisco router and most linux based router/firewall distros. Outbound data is generally safe and doesn't pose much of a security risk so it's usually allowed out.

My S is constantly below like 150 with no lag or any problems etc.. I don't think send goes much more than 200ish?

Having lag like that was always a problem when I used wireless- at school etc.
