It's never too late to start, but you would have a hard time getting people to get through ROTZ missions as well as COP. I definatly recomend meeting up with some old friends if any who play the game that would be willing to help you out.

People keep telling me to wait for 14, but knowing SE it probably wont be released for a while. Look at 13, it was suppose to be out 06 and wasn't released till '10.

Meh, starting over is alot easier than your 1st time playing. Takes you very little time to get 75 your second time through.

if you start again just unlock BST and solo your way up the levels.. that will give you something to do before FFXIV comes out

A friend of mine got their account locked about two weeks ago, and can't get back in. So they started a new account and in 10 days of play time have NIN37 and WAR54.

Depends if you have a lot of help from friends and know what you're doing.

Well refering to the the topic, no you should not start over because like Behar said you have to do all of those damn missions again. However I have the idea Square Enix is going to delay FFXIV until sometime after the cap raises to 99 because they will make more money through selling the expansions and people buying them, then switch over to FFXIV. But really, it is up to you if you want to play again.

If all you're doing is goofing off for the summer, I'd say go ahead and start over. Would recommend trying to get your old char back though if that's possible.

Wouldn't that just make you think X-2 was too girlie? She wasn't exactly missing him in X, you know, while he was still there.

I mean I completely agree on the girlie overtones of X-2. Not to mention it was just a poor game all around. But X.. not really seeing any girliness there. If the whole main character falls in love is girlie, you should have issue with a lot more of the FF series than those two.
