So today I was greeted with a post on my ls' forums that brought up the idea of using the following gear set on birds.

I personally have not tested this and remain pretty close minded on the subject. I'm just curious as to whether this would beat out the typical sam 6hits (rajas + hachi hands, rajas + rose strap).
I know for a fact that polearm is still better, but I was just wondering if this set is even acceptable.

A few things to keep in mind:
-Fighting birds using GK
-Full GK and STP merits
-Not acc capped
-Not using any food
-I don't believe this would put you at acc cap

So take a look yourself and feel free to provide feedback. Both good and bad comments are welcome ^^

edit: this is not my set and i dont ever plan on using it.

The lack of haste in that setup hurts my head.

As does

-Not using any food
and of course

-Fighting birds using GK
but you covered that.

EDIT: ~400 accuracy, at least they got that much right...

And I'm guessing all that acc isn't worth the loss of pretty much everything else, correct?

Feasible? yes. Ugly? Horribly. Better? Not remotely.

--edit

If you need accuracy buy a couple of stacks of crab sushi.

If you can't afford it, don't merit 'til you can.

The accuracy is good, it's just that a decent bit of it came from questionable (okay, terrible) gear choices. Swapping back to Dusk Gloves, Haste+3 feet, Byakko's Haidate, an acc+5 ring, and Rajas is adding in 11% Haste for a whopping 4 accuracy, 6 STR, and 6 attack (STR/attack in TP phase means so much for SAM =P). So yeah, a bunch of bad trades here.

Standard non-usukane sam looks like:

Hagun/Rose//B.Tath
Turban/A.T/Brutal/Bushi
Hauby+1/Dusk/Rajas/Ecp
Foragers/V belt/Byakkos/Fuma

Obvious down grades exsist for some slots (waist, ammo, second ear, back, Neck and body) but its the best you can do.

No offence OP, but people with a lot better understanding of game mechanics than yourself have looked in to this (at length, because everyone has a SAM these days), you are unlikely to find something that hasn't been thought of before AND discounted as not as good.

None taken, I don't ever plan on using this. It was a friends idea.
I was more-so looking for help to prove that the normal rose strap build > this.
I'm not a master of game mechanics etc which is why I posted here in hopes of getting the exact responses I did.

This or gtfo if you don't have Usukane. There's also alternatives to this, but I'm not promoting a Hachiman Domaru at all. I won't do it, you can't make me.

And yeah, that can be improved on as well, but someone without Usukane is less likely to have Ancient Torque/Black Tathlum, etc.

Cuch is obviously situational and agreed about the A.Torque and B.Tath, I just chucked them in for completeness.

Although if you have capped acc, Askar + Pole will beat Hauby+1 + Rose but in that sitaution you should be using Polearm and that's a completely different build.

Agreed on that, completely. It's basically the 20% haste set or polearm.

And I loooooooove me some polearm.

Also, OP, you can just use a Forager's in lieu of Cuchu Mantle. That's just icing on the cake really. I just happened to have one when I made that set, and give credit to Tigerwoods(Vegetto) for turning me onto it.

For the OP I see your actual gear, work in find a salvage group for Usukane Sune-Ate and if you are lucky and get it, go for PCC, ring: sniper+1/toreador/augment acc 6+, Pole grip,Byakko obviously, and you go for the good way ^^ no try o fight/pay for get Ace's, you walmart still win.

Sam no is my main, but I like when I see ppl working for a good main job

lol usu boots are even more of a dream than cuch mantle

I've been making due with what I've got. Definitely needs some work though.

And thanks for actually taking the time to look at my personal gear rather than just assuming that the set I posted in the op was mine.

I'm not as worried about the 500k as I am the 35 boots.

That bee is stingy.

And seeing as I don't have a variety of jobs leveled salvage is a rare opportunity for me.

The bee's drop rate isn't bad, his pop rate on the other hand...

BR is simple though, 6 people could easily clear 1F and 2F ramparts with little/no experience.

I was able to handle the ramparts okay with a way less than average group (me included).

This was like 7 months ago, and haven't gone back since.

I usually do the 2F rampart with 4 of us total. SAMx2 with polearm available, SCH/RDM, and WHM makes for a cakewalk run through. However, getting the people for this to D/C you into BR is a ***. Nobody seems to like a free 30k!

Getting people to D/C is a pain in the ***, which is why I said 6. Also 6 people allows for some slack due to an inexperienced group without over stretching cells (not that cells are really an issue in BR).

the only useful usukane piece is usukane body, and its only a side grade. why are you going after feet...? a 20% haste set with rose strap is strictly better than a 19% haste set with usu feet, even with sword strap.
