Hello,

I upgraded my Son's laptop giving him both a SSD and Windows 10. Windows 10 is a clean / fresh install and the old Win 7 is on the G drive.

I would like to skip reinstalling Final Fantasy XI all over again and know you can copy the files from one drive to another (e.g. from old Win 7 to new Win 10 C drive).

What I need to know: Are there instructions on recreating the shortcuts and/or registry entries. I suspect Windower will take care of the important registry through its own means.

Anyway, any advice on moving FFXI and Windower from a Win7 drive to a Win10 (clean/fresh) drive?

Thanks.

go to official website , and download new instaler.

instal game in new pc.

Copy paste Playonline Folder from old to new pc.
( Also , copy USER folder into new pc from old , this hold game setting , and macros if you need )
(ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER)

Run POL >

Pol will check file and update .

log into game once ( might load macros if saved on server on character page )

Quit ff11.

then run Final Fantasy config

( might be US or E.U depends on your location )

Done !

If u want to use your old game files to save time on updating then you will have to install the game before you can copy your old files back on.

If your old game files where from a disc install then it will not be compatible with the new download version if you wanted to copy them over after the install.

Yeah, definitely use the new installer, and you should probably just format that old drive.

Generally if you have to ask when it comes to the registry you shouldn't be doing it, BUT there are guides out there, even premade batch files that will reregister the .dlls for you. Still just recommend doing a fresh install, now Windower you can just copy the directory and make a new shortcut.
